The Tate on Howard, kalamazoo-mi

If you're looking for a place to live, go somewhere else. Everyone in my apartment was locked out of the building in 20 degree temperatures because our access to the smart locks (that were installed with little warning for no good discernible reason a year prior, and to which we weren't given physical keys until enough people complained) was somehow allowed to expire?? Meanwhile, the office had closed early so that staff could attend the Western hockey game, and an email wasn't sent out until 1 pm the following day addressing the issue. The office closes at 2 pm on Saturdays, and no extended hours were offered for anyone that couldn't make it. My one roommate who works nearly every day has been locked out since and will be for the foreseeable future until they have time to go in. Additionally, the new management that bought the complex shortly after we moved a couple years ago installed gates at both entrances/exits which are now both broken. Also, we had to download a second app in addition to the first app to unlock the door, making it a grand total of 2 apps that one would potentially have to use to get into the apartment that they pay for, and god forbid if your phone happens to die. Overall, I will not be re-signing, and I couldn't recommend it to anyone else in good conscience.

I’m soo very happy here at The Tate on Howard. My surroundings are beautiful! My apartment is gorgeous! And the Amenities are amazing! God really was looking after me when he directed me to apply to live here! I love the entire team that takes care of me here!

The maintenance team is horrible. We have had multiple issues from locks being broken, no hot water for DAYS, and even our carbon monoxide detector having the date scratched off of the label. How do they expect four people to pay roughly around $600 a month each and deal with this embarrassment of an apartment complex. Instead of fixing these issues they’d rather build a gate that doesn’t do anything but make it inconvenient to leave and enter the parking lot. On top of this. The hot tub has been closed for months so what exactly is that $2400 a month going towards? This is not the fault of the maintenance workers. They are short staffed and have to deal with the entire complex. The management team needs to get their crap in order. Maybe if they actually paid their workers a fair wage (considering they have more than enough) I wouldn’t be writing this review.

I have had a great experience here the past year! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. My roommates and I love the pool and hot tub (plus they keep it very clean!). When we have a problem with anything the maintenance people are on it within the week. The only problem we have had is being left without a washer for a few months while a new one was being ordered. It’s super close to campus which is very convenient. Overall great experience and we signed another year lease.

I haven’t moved in yet, but I’ve had a really great experience so far. The staff has been super friendly and helpful — they’ve made everything easy and stress-free. The apartments I toured were really clean and way more spacious than I expected. Everything looked well taken care of, and the vibe of the whole place just felt right.
