The Hive Iowa Apartments, iowa-city-ia

My D will be attending carver medical school in August and we have visited 6 different apartment rentals and overall the Hive is the best fit for her. The tour went well and the representatives from the Hive have been very helpful and extremely patient with my questions. And they communicate really well among themselves which is impressive. So far so good!

I love all of the different study spaces throughout the entire complex, whether its on your own residential floor or out in the common area. There is so much to do here, play pool, go to the gym, ping pong, hot tub, it can be easy to not leave. I love that there is in unit wash and dry and you have garbage disposal on each floor!

Amenities sometimes didn’t work, gym machines constantly down, coffee machine didn’t work and at times the elevator. I wanted to sublease in the summer they said I would have to pay $750 just so they can fill out paper work. Then AC was broke. all of april, they said it was “fixed”, but broken again two days later. Then management switched over and they started charging me a random 5.50 on my bill every month “for utilities” despite my lease saying they are obligated to pay for utilities and the old management has been doing that the past week. Not a great experience especially for how expensive rent is.

My nephew Caden has been living/working at Hive, and it has been an excellent experience all around. The complex feels very safe, which gives both him and our family peace of mind. The building and common areas are consistently clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for students. Hive also offers great amenities — the gym is convenient and well-equipped, making it easy for residents to stay active without leaving the property. The community itself is engaging and welcoming, with plenty of opportunities for students to connect, socialize, and feel at home. Overall, Hive has been a wonderful place for my nephew to live during college. Highly recommend for any student looking for a safe, clean, and community-focused apartment option.

I have lived here for two years and have absolutely loved it! Staff are great, responsive, and always friendly. There is a great sense of community in this residence.
