Haven At Elgin, houston-tx

In my opinion, Haven at Elgin feels misleading. As a University of Houston student, I toured the property after hearing mixed reviews, and the tour was conducted on the 5th floor, which looked modern, clean, and well-maintained. The next day after the tour, I visited again with a friend who lives there and saw the rest of the building. The difference was very noticeable. The 5th floor had much nicer flooring, clean finishes, red, black, and white wall designs, and appeared to be the only floor with amenities like a gym, yoga room, restrooms by the elevator, and access to the pool. The other floors looked very different, with worn flooring, stains, shoe prints, dirt, and missing wall designs. I also saw what looked like a spilled brown liquid with flies around it in one area. The first five photos are from the 5th floor shown during the tour, and the rest are from other floors. The difference in flooring and overall condition is clear. If you’re considering Haven at Elgin, I strongly recommend seeing multiple floors before signing a lease and not relying only on the tour.

RUN AWAY!!! FINANCIAL BONDAGE WILL MEET YOU HERE. EVERY NIGHTMARE ABOUT HAVING YOUR OWN SPACE WILL FIND YOU AT HAVEN AKA HELL!! Parents please teach your children NOT to sign contracts that are meant to keep them in financial BONDAGE. As stated by the office manager (with the freckles)....."This happens quite often and more than you think". So lets look at changing the policy or at least allowing circumstances on a case-by-case.....you think! So my daughter signed a lease agreement and found out she no longer would be attending TSU. As a matter of fact, presented proof of a death in the family as stated would have been enough, but apparently your child has to die or join the military to get out of the lease agreement. I am not making this up....literally! Haven has a policy on their agreements that it is the responsibility of the student to find someone to pick up their lease agreement. As well, they have a "reletting fee" which is 85% of their lease agreement that they as well have to pay. As well the MANAGER (Ms Freckles) misquoted and told my daughter and husband the reletting fee was going to be $300. When we arrived to pay $300....then it was "OH its 85% of the rental amount.... so the new fee to be released is $891. AND, in order for the person your referring to move in.....this needs to be paid on the spot. Can somone say.....lack of integrity in management is a poor company representative! So yeah, they are......Double dipping for no apparent reason. Don't care about your student.... they just want their money. Haven is aware these students have no clue they are signing their SOUL away to hell, to live and to be financial burdened by their underlying rules, regulations and state compliances. It is already stressful enough finding a place to live but having to deal with properties that enjoy monopolizing the community and its families is a nest waiting to rot! Long story short....my daughter had to pay rent to move out of a place she never moved in or saw....all but to find someone to take the entire lease agreement over. Now they get my daughters money and the new tenants money and guess what....nobody even moved in YET! Financial Bondage 101 is alive and will connect with your soul here. You have been warned....RUN!! Read over EVERYTHING. Ask questions until it makes no sense. They are not here to teach and train your child to know better but to take as much money as they can to bulk up on their end of the year Christmas party and staff retreats. And like the manager said, THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. So they know what they are doing. Find a place that will work with you and your family and not just see your child as a money market. I love it here so much I already renewed my lease. The lobby always stay so clean, it smells great, and all the staff members are SO nice. When I say all I mean ALL (Malik, Josh, Ola, Morgan, and Ashley). They attend to all residents in an efficient way and do it with a great attitude. I’ve yet to have a bad experience with them, and I don’t think I will. They also host events like pool parties, ice cream bar, breakfast, waffle bars, etc.. I 100% recommend Haven if you live at TSU or UH, if you just want to come home and relax and not worry about anything, this is the place.

Kennedi was very nice had great personality she spoke very clearly and pacifically. She was very articulate. She was willing to cater to our needs and make sure we had a great understanding of each and every floor plan. It was a great experience.
