Lizette was amazing! She gave us such a great tour of Hale Haukani and truly made the whole experience feel welcoming and exciting. She was incredibly sweet, very knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions with honesty and transparency. You can tell she really cares about helping people find the right place to live. After touring with her, I felt even more excited about the possibility of moving in. Thank you, Lizette, for such a wonderful tour!

My daughter will be starting at UH Manoa very soon so we scheduled a tour here and were lucky enough to have Lizette show us around. She was very approachable and professional. She answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed and gave us a lot of practical information that parents actually want to know, not just details about the property itself. She talked about the surrounding area, transportation, etc. After seeing several places, this one stood out because it felt well maintained and in a convenient location. The tour was informative and relaxed, and Lizette played a big part in making the experience a positive one. Thank you for all your help Lizz! 😁

We came to Hale Haukani for a tour and Lizette was our guide and she was literally the best. Sometimes these tours can feel super awkward or like they’re just trying to sell you something, but she was so nice and welcoming and actually answered all my random questions about what it’s like living there and the university experience. She made us feel so welcomed!

Recently toured Hale Haukani and had such a great time with Lizette who was my tour guide! She was so thorough in showing me around and letting me know what amenities were offered both in and around the complex. I feel much more confident in my living choices around UH Manoa and will hopefully choose this as my home once I make a decision. Thank you Lizette for being such an awesome, informative, and fun guide to be around!

First Tenants • Incomplete Amenities • No A/C • No Parking • Limited Accessibility. At approximately $2,000 per month, I personally do not feel the value aligns with the cost. Although the building is new, there is no air conditioning, and ventilation in my unit has been limited. Construction has continued in certain areas of the property during occupancy. My experience living at Hale Haukani as part of the first group of tenants who moved in around August. While the property is new construction, living here has felt more like occupying a building that is still in progress rather than a fully completed residential community. Several amenities that were presented as part of the community, including the on-site market and other shared features, have not yet been completed or made available. Residents have been paying full rent while some advertised amenities remain unfinished or unusable. There is no resident parking available at all, including no designated moped parking or for those with disabilities. When I moved in, only approximately two-thirds of a window shade had been installed in my unit. It took about three weeks after reporting the issue for it to be corrected. Accessibility is another area of concern. The property does not offer resident parking of any kind. When inquiring about accommodation options for individuals with disabilities, management responded in writing: “Our community does not offer parking for residents. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate your request for permanent parking, as our existing parking is designated for specific uses and cannot be modified. You are welcome to utilize the handicap-accessible parking located at the front of the building for temporary use; however, please note that overnight parking is not permitted.” Additionally, there are no automatic door-opening buttons or door-assist features to help individuals who may require assistance entering or exiting the building. During ongoing construction, contractors have routinely parked in the existing handicap-designated parking spaces during working hours. While these spaces are not available for overnight resident use, their frequent daytime occupancy further limits availability for those who may need them. I also want to note the balcony policy as outlined in the lease. Residents were reminded: “No items may be stored or left on the balcony. Residents are not permitted to stand or step out onto the balcony. Any activity involving the balcony, including placing items outside or physically accessing the space, is considered a lease violation.” Under this policy, the balcony cannot be accessed or used, including for drying clothes or placing seasonal decorations. This raises a reasonable question about the functional purpose of including balconies if they are not intended for resident use. In my experience, responses to concerns have felt dismissive, and I have not experienced meaningful resolution or accommodation when raising issues. Also I have had the fridge stop working that was provided, which make over $200 of food unsafe to eat, and when I told them they did thankfully give me $150. This review reflects my personal experience as one of the first tenants in this new building. Prospective residents may want to carefully evaluate the current state of construction, available amenities, parking limitations, accessibility features, and usage restrictions before signing a lease.
