I have not even moved in yet and my roommates have updated me with these pics and information. The apartment wasn't cleaned at all since the last renters were here. Theres dog hair everywhere on the carpets and in the washer. There was dirty socks and dog toys left in the apartment. The washer is leaking and had mold and roaches under it and the dishwasher has a leak and is flooding. All of my roommates are our parents have been trying to get any staff member to help or at least speak with us and no one will answer a phone or do a thing about it. We had no options of going anywhere else or waiting for a cleaner that wouldnt show up so we moved in and now me and my roommates are cleaning someones else's mess for them. I am actually dreading living here. This is so unsanitary and unprofessional. Cant wait to leave another review when i move out!

This was how i was presented my room. i have lived in block 43 for the past two years and this is now my third and this is the worst it has been. block 43 had over 30 residents keys not made the day of move in. people were in the office for hours waiting for keys. i got into my room and it was disgusting. never inspected or cleaned. my mom and I spent 7 HOURS CLEANING. i will be taking legal action as I signed a lease saying my room is supposed to be livable and habital to move in and it was not. the worst student apartment and over priced. please take ur money somewhere else. i beg you. i stayed because I already signed a lease but I will be finding someone to sublease if they want too. this place gets 0 stars. they are money hungry and mange to is HORRIBLE.told me it would be 6 hours before someone could clean my room and then no one every came. disgusting!

Do Not Move here. Leasing Staff and Property Management has poor performance in resolving situations and in their communication. As a resident you can do what they ask of you however, they still manage to drop the ball. If Negative Zero existed that is the rating I would give this community. On Move in Day I paid all of the upfront fees however, upon moving in we had no furniture except for our bed frame. The other furniture took months to arrive and tenants were never compensated for the Delay. Also the Unit was dirty and we had a broken AC unit. Recently I was involved in an accident and had to get a rental car I made the property manager Kate aware and she told me to send her an email and she will communicate this with the towing company so that my rental will not get towed. After our verbal exchange I composed and sent an email to her in the office and two days later my rental is getting towed. She never communicated this information once again slacking in their job responsibilities. Please do not waste your money living here it is a waist.

Received a random $130 charge about a month ago and when I emailed Angie I waited weeks for a response and never got one explaining what the actual charge was for. My mom had to start mailing in my rent with a check because when the new management took over we couldn't figure out how to pay online anymore, then even though she sent it in TWO WEEKS EARLY I still got multiple eviction notices and a late fee after THEY made it harder for me to pay rent. Which took several angry phone calls to get waved. The apartments are extremely poorly insulated, there has not been one month in the past two years I haven't had to pay overages for using my heat and air. (If you move in now there supposedly are no more overages, however the rent went up for all apartments.. I'm assuming for this reason) There are actual holes in the front and back door, so the heat and air gets out really easily. The washer and dryer are horrible and outdated, way too loud and I have to dry my clothes like 4 times to get them actually dry. Living here has been a total nightmare and I get an email this morning from Block 43 bribing me with a free "gift" in the office to leave a 5 star review. That's a joke. Also visitor parking is very very limited. After about 6PM it gets very hard to find a visitor spot which makes things difficult if you have evening classes like I do. As soon as my lease runs up in July I'm moving into a house for rent in Greensboro.

When first moving in, my roommates and me were excited and looking forward to living in our new home. That is not the case anymore. Over the months we have realized that Sterling Cottages is not somewhere we would live again for the 2015-2016 year. First of all there is only a handful of visitor parking, and when they get full and your visitor tries to park elsewhere in the complex they get towed. As a resident I feel like for the amount of parking offered in Sterling there should be more than 10-12 visitor parking spots. When asking the employees in Sterling about the issue their response was "if there are no visitors then they cannot park on the premises." We understand that they are trying to prevent crime in the complex area but when family wants to visit we should not have to worry about a parking spot because the visitors get full by 5pm. The next issue with Sterling are the overages. When first leasing we knew there would be the occasional 15-20$ by the month overage but we did not expect a 50-90$ per person overages on top of the monthly rent we each pay. When asking the staff at Sterling where the overages come from they are unable and unwilling to help you figure out where the issue is. The staff in the office care about the residents, but when you have to go further above such as a manager it is very unprofessional and rude. Living in a student housing complex you would expect the employees to care and to want to help you, but they do not want to seem to do that when it comes to issues such as overages. The amenities Sterling offers are wonderful, and if you lease early enough the price for the apartments are not bad but the other issues outweigh the positive for leasing at Sterling.
