I've had an amazing experience with each visit to The Met! The staff, especially Josiyah and Jordan, are incredibly friendly, helpful, and always go the extra mile to make residents feel welcome. The community has a fun, social vibe with regular events that make it easy to meet new people. The amenities are modern and well-maintained — perfect for both studying and relaxing. It's a great place to live if you're a student at UF looking for a vibrant, supportive environment. Highly recommend!

Honneurson was very personable and accommodating—he gave me a tour even though I arrived unannounced. He was open to questions and answered everything thoroughly. The building itself is extremely clean, updated, and supported by a friendly staff.

All the employees at The Metropolitan are so kind and polite! Every interaction I’ve had has been great, but Jordan has truly gone above and beyond. She’s been incredibly helpful with any issues we’ve had and is always so kind and personable. It really makes a difference. Thank you, Jordan, for all your help!

Brunella is so sweet and amazing to work with! My permanent jewelry company Forever Linked Gainesville came to the leasing office for an event and she was great with communication and the hospitality! We are forever thankful for the collab! The entire group of people were great! Thank you!!!

I have been living at the Metropolitan for about 3 lease terms now. Disappointed to say the least. If you want to feel like nothing but a human ATM, then this is the place for you. All complaints I have had over the years have been twisted into being my fault and management has even attempted to charge me for problems inherently wrong with the property rather than my doing. All that is cared about is the money you are giving them. Moreover and likely related, this place is not minority friendly whatsoever. Not only have I experienced blatantly racist remarks from the current Property Manager, Jordan, but almost all of my friends that are also residents here have complained to me about similar acts of discrimination, prejudice, and majority favoritism. For example, when attempting to discuss a concern with her, she became very defensive and brushed me over to her black colleague for a "better understanding" despite me being calm, transparent, and a native english speaker. For someone in a management position, this level of bias and lack of cultural competence is concerning. This place does not feel safe for minority individuals and management makes me feel like I am not welcomed here. I've extended my stay 2 years too long. I wish this management attitude was shown to me from the beginning so I did not have to experience this over time, over and over again. I am only sharing this so others do not experience the discrimination I have had to deal with on countless occasions. It will be roses and daisies to get you to sign a lease, but once you are "locked into" this place for a lease you are treated as such if you are a minority....a prisoner and a criminal locked into a jail cell with no autonomy or say in the concerns you have about your unit or the property. Like previous reviews state, management is nothing but money hungry. This comes with the cost of oppression if you are a minority resident. Aside from this, the concerns I have expressed and continue to experience due to a lack of care are the following (some of which others have also complained about in this review thread for years): - ROACHES: it's pretty bad and I find a dead one in my apartment at least twice a week. - MOLD: I've lived in 4 units over the years and all of them without fail have had some form of mold problem - CONSTRUCTION: Cabinets and door handles are poorly installed and I have had numerous cabinet door fall off of the cabinetry - PARKING: I have spent more on getting boots removed from my car than on the property's monthly parking fee. My first year living here they booted me and made me pay $84 because they assigned the same parking spot to two different people. - TRASH CHUTE: At times, the trash chute overflows and the trash room can't even be walked into because there is a mountain of trash bags in it. Trash removal schedule should seriously be looked into. - MANAGEMENT ENTERING UNITS: Normally, when nobody answers when you knock it means try again another time or come back later. On multiple occasions I have woken up from my own private bedroom to a stranger (someone from the management team) in my room. It feels like a violation, what if I were unclothed? In sum, the roaches, mold, and structural problems observed across multiple units paired with the racism, prejudice, bias, discrimination, and money hungry attitude experienced when attempting to voice these concerns lead me to the conclusion that this place is not safe for your health or your emotional wellbeing. For years I have felt like an unvalued customer for these reasons. 2/10, do not reccomend. Best wishes in your apartment search, and welcome to Gainesville, FL!! *Information in this review is factual to the best of my knowledge and experiences, grounded in personal truth and shared concerns*
