LOOK ELSEWHERE! Hilltop, much like its sister communities, has management that reeks of incompetence and neglect. There have been more than TWENTY car breakins during the past few months, and management is dragging their feet installing any real security or peace of mind. They don't care, they simply don't. Nothing gets done with haste unless Hilltop stands to profit some way. And their desk hours are laughable. Oh, you want to pick up a package? Sorry, we decided to close at 4pm today instead of 5 like every other day we're open, for some reason. The staff are at least nice and understanding, which is honestly probably one of the few redeeming qualities about this community. Otherwise, I'd say its a dump. There's a 50/50 chance the apartment you move into will be filthy or have broken furniture, just like mine was when I first moved in. Like I said, LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE TO LIVE!

I would give zero stars if I could. Do not live here. This was the worst mistake I made in my time at NAU. When I first moved in the place was DISGUSTING. I couldn’t unpack because I had to wipe down the entire place. The countertops and floors were black, there was a sticky substance all over our cabinets, dirt all over the room, scratches in the leather couch, as well as sand and fake nails in the closets. We were missing furniture, the laundry machine broke 4 times in the year and a half we lived there. Rent is beyond high, higher than all of the nicer student apartments. Random fees get added to your payments each month and no one will tell you why. For four months anytime we flipped a light switch or plugged something in the power would go out. One time my roommate plugged a curling iron in and the lights went out, when we put in a service request and asked for help the person at the desk just told us, “well don’t plug stuff in then.” Peoples cars get broken into all the time. Parking is terrible for paying 85 a month. Lastly, the people working will act so nice and like they’re going to help, but they don’t. While trying to sublease my apartment they “couldn’t find” the signed papers from the girl subleasing for me. They did this three times. Maybe spend more time focusing on how you treat your residents than hanging up flyers and calling four times a day to get people to resign.

I understand that being in the business with college students can’t be easy! HOWEVER, this place is a complete joke. They do not clean or make things right for the students when they move in. They do not respond to requests for maintenance. Then when you move out they find something, anything to charge you for. We had to clean everything before we could move them in. My daughter and her 4 room mates were all charged for something. Two of them shared a bathroom and were both charged for cleaning when the mom scrubbed the bathroom for 2 hours on move out day. The couch they gave our kids was destroyed. They told them they had already replaced to many and wouldn’t replace theirs. After parents got involved, they swapped two cushions sill leaving the one that had a HUGE spring sticking up in it so you couldn’t sit on it. The replacement didn’t have connectors so the couch moved every time you tried it sit on it. Our kids bathrooms were gross on move in and things were falling apart. On move in there were holes in the walls that hadn’t been repaired and paint that didn’t match. My husband being in construction and told that they paint every time no matter what filled the little holes to help them out. They then charged our daughter $115 for paint that they were already doing and on holes that were already there.Their fridge handle broke off, just wear on the screws over time. They put in multiple requesting and on move out day it still had not been fixed. They cancelled my daughter portal on move out day but sent a request for the $115. She has been emailing trying to show pictures and proof that we shouldn’t have to pay and they drag it out not responding trying to get it sent to collections. We are looking into a complaint with the BBB. They are just hoping you pay them to be done with them. They are absolute crooks and I would NOT recommend them!

DO NOT EVER LIVE HERE!!!!! Hilltop is the absolute WORST. I lived there for a full year. First of all rent is atrocious, $1200 for a room??? Parking is more on top of that, I moved in and the carpets were disgusting and every time I enter a service request, they say it’s “completed” yet nothing gets done. I ended up having someone take over my lease (you can’t end it prematurely) and it took MONTHS. Thousands of problems, ZERO communication from the office. I had to call every day to ensure that things were working. They tried to charge me several late fees that I had to get waived because the employees have ZERO communication between one another. Now that I’m moved out I’m getting notified I owe another $500 for god knows what because they won’t tell me exactly it is what I owe even though I moved out and left the room in the EXACT condition I found it in. Hilltop is an absolute trap for students to get money out of them while supplying them with less than mediocre living conditions. Any student is better off finding an off-campus living place and paying the NAU parking pass, it is significantly better and cheaper than the experience hilltop will give you.

My son and his friends are Hilltop residents and we have been extremely happy with everything about Hilltop: the friendly caring staff, the ammenities, and quick response for every question. Upon move-in, EVERY request that he made was honored: near San Francisco Street, first/second floor, even an after hours early move-in! His unit is beautiful and maintenance quickly addressed the few concerns that he had. Our Lumberjack is thrilled with his unit and excited about staying in his very conveniently located "home away from home" for the next few years. Thanks Hilltop!
