The Rocks, east-lansing-mi

I recently did a virtual tour with them. While there was a minor hiccup with my internet and getting on they were pretty patient with me! ( I was 10 mins late lol). I ended doing the virtual tour with their Community Manager and they were great! They answered all my questions and gave me tour of the amenities and the model that they have! The only downside I had was that I wasn’t able to get any of the free snacks and drinks they had lol. 10/10 would recommend to anymore looking for housing!

entirely incompetent management. room and rest of apt was extremely dirty when moving in. dryer was broken for the entirety of our lease despite numerous, numerous attempts to have maintenance repair it (they would come and do absolutely nothing and mark the request as fulfilled). cold water didn’t work in bathroom sink despite getting it fixed repeatedly. stinkbugs kept entering room and apartment despite keeping all windows and exterior doors closed. freezer ice bucket was received broken. cat claw marks on all furniture. 2/3 of our kitchen lights were burnt out within first week of moving in. bugs painted over and sealed into walls and baseboards. so much water damage present in bathroom the wood had massive gaps in between planks that were hastily covered by TAPE. didn’t enforce parking spot rules— had to request many times for a tow for a car parked in my spot and got no response or an extremely delayed one. and that was after having to wait almost FOUR WEEKS to be assigned a parking spot (not to mention having it changed twice). printer was broken for majority of the lease duration. key fob didn’t work half the time. key to room didn’t even fit into lock of room door. did i mention dirty? because everything was filthy. outside stairwell was covered in bugs and dust and dirt and NEVER cleaned. hated living here would not recommend to anyone. oh and they try to scam you with repeated excessive and unnecessary charges!

There’s literally a 5 star review under this but I don’t care. Save your money and don’t even bother because in one way or another, they will do something to mess with your move in, your apartment, and your rent and you will feel helpless. It looks new, but it’s dirty (and they will track their muddy shoes on your carpet), it’s broken (will take several tries reaching out for them to say they’ll get it done in a week), and it’s most definitely not worth the money they demand from you. Seriously and genuinely, save yourself.

I called this week with questions about how rent is split between roommates, and the representative I spoke with, Ayun, was very rude and dismissive. It was disappointing to be treated that way for simply asking questions. After speaking with several current and former residents, I also heard concerns about unexpected fees, which made me decide to look elsewhere.

When you tour this apartment they will tell you the utilities will be around $70. In reality, my roommate and I pay around $500 monthly. Because this is double what I paid for a HOUSE last year (and significantly higher than any apartment I’ve lived in/friends have lived in), we have reached out to them for reasoning on why it costs this much. We have received no help what so ever. After a while, we finally got a reply to which they told us someone would be coming to inspect our HVAC, and that never happened. When following up with this person, we’ve been ghosted.
