Riverside Apartments, east-lansing-mi

I have rented in EL for four years now and I’ve rented with Cron, DTN, Hagan, and now Prime— Prime is BY FAR the best agency I’ve rented from. They truly feel like the only company that keeps their prices affordable and does not try to get every dollar they can from you. They have extremely reasonable move-in fees and the rent rates are definitely some of the cheapest and best quality rates you can find in EL. Additionally, every maintenance request I have sent in has been handled within 24 hours. I feel as if they actually care about their residents. Every place I have lived has charged me full month’s rent for August (the last month of the lease) even though we needed to move out within the first week of the month. Prime does not! While you may hear that the properties are “not as nice”, the place I rented was the same quality as Hagan, Cron, and DTN with rent over $200 cheaper a month! Maybe they aren’t updated, but for those of us on a budget, I don’t think we planned on living in Landmark anyways… The apartments are still incredibly clean and in amazing shape. Prime is also pet friendly!! This is one of the only agencies I’ve seen in EL that is pet friendly. They also gave me no issue regarding my ESA— they were extremely kind and communicative, whereas other agencies have sent attorneys my way to try and deny the reasonable accommodation request. From what I have seen, parking is also included at their properties which can be very hard to find in EL. Overall, I have nothing but kind words for my time at my Prime Housing property and 100% recommend them, especially for those of us who are on a budget and/or financially independent!

Cedarview West: my experience was good overall. Nice management but no amenities besides heat and parking. Apartment is partially furnished but needs some updates. Location is unbeatable. Apartment gets really hot in the summer but with the window ac unit and a few fans, it is manageable. I paid $720 monthly, $50 internet/basic cable bundle, $50-115 utilities(low in winter, high in summer).

I lived at the Chief Okemos apartments for 3 years. There was one apartment with annoying neighbors but mostly everybody was pretty quiet. Maintenance was prompt but I don’t remember having many issues. Sometimes the hot water would run out. Management was easy to work with and communicated well.

Lived at lowebrook for 2.5 years as I went to MSU and I couldn’t have picked a better place. The location is awesome and the place was nice. It’s definitely not the newest apartment, but it’s incredibly affordable and became my home. Was sad to move away, but they made it easier than ever to sublease. I would 100% recommend prime housing group, the staff is friendly and kind and are there to help!

I lived at Riverside for my senior year at MSU, and it was great! I was most impressed by the affordable rent, the abundance of closet space, and the stellar communication by the leasing office and maintenance. The only payments we had to make on top of rent were electricity, internet, and laundry (coin-operated). If you don't mind some noise from Grand River and some creaks in the floor boards (more noticeable if someone is living above you), I would highly recommend a Riverside apartment to any college student looking for a place that is very walkable from the MSU campus.
