Campus Village - E. Lansing, east-lansing-mi

A WARNING IF PAYING BY PHYSICAL CHECK: I will start this review by saying the location is awesome and it is a relatively clean building. However, we have had a few major issues with Campus village. One of the biggest issues was because I paid by check. One of the managers, Rich, processes the checks. I have never once paid my check late, but somehow almost every single month I get multiple phone calls and emails from the campus village corp office saying that I haven’t paid my rent. I’ll get charged late fees and get pestered until I go and tell Rich that it hasn’t been processed. He always has an excuse saying that another office is responsible for processing the next step, but somehow after I talk with him the check is processed like 30 minutes later. Today is the 20th of July and my rent check has not been processed. I got a letter today saying I must pay or I will be evicted in 7 days. This is absolutely ridiculous, there is not a reason in the world for my check to take 20 days to process. This is unacceptable behavior and a poor job carried out by the staff.

From what I’ve seen, Campus Village East Lansing looks like a really solid option for student living. The location is super convenient for getting to campus and nearby spots, which is a huge plus. The apartments themselves seem clean, modern, and well-kept, and the layout looks comfortable for everyday living. I’ve also heard good things about how quickly maintenance responds and how well the property is managed overall, which makes a big difference when choosing a place to live. The community seems pretty calm and organized, which is something I’m definitely looking for. Overall, as a prospective resident, it comes across as a reliable and stress-free place to live, especially for students who want something both convenient and well-maintained.

Lived here last year and honestly? I miss it. The location made getting to campus super easy, and the apartments were clean, modern, and comfortable to live in throughout the year. It felt like a solid balance between student-friendly and still well-maintained. One thing that stood out during my time there was how responsive maintenance was. Anytime I put in a request, it was handled pretty quickly, which made a big difference. The community itself was also pretty quiet and easy to live in. The staff played a big role in that experience too. Christina, in particular, was great to work with. She was always friendly, easy to talk to, and quick to help with anything that came up. It definitely made living there feel a lot less stressful knowing someone was that reliable. Overall, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient and well-run place to live in East Lansing.

Current resident. I hate to leave this review because the office and maintenance staff are SUPER friendly and helpful But… The first floor apartment has pest problems, and the old (and honestly musty) carpets make mouse poop invisible. We have gotten mice in our unit 3 times now, no idea how they’re getting in besides under the door, which is raised enough for them to run in. They leave droppings on the stove, counters, everywhere. We don’t leave food out either. There’s also bad sealing on the windows so tons of black beetles also keep coming into my bedroom unit whenever the sun is out. We reported the mice and the employees said there’s “nothing they can do,” which isn’t their fault because they aren’t given the funding/resources by CV to add stoppers under doors, set mouse traps in hallways, hire/rent carpet cleaners, etc... Campus Village policy is the problem. They operate pretty cheaply. When we moved in, the carpet was already stained in some areas from past use. What really rubs it in is the fact that I have seen the inside of a friend’s unit who pays the same price, and it’s got nice hardwood floors and new cabinets and sink area. Residents with these older, unsightly rooms should be given a discount. Unless Campus Village pays for carpet cleaning after rodents, or does anything else to take responsibility for the pest issues, I rate the place 2 stars. Not worth the price, much cleaner apartments near campus.

She walked me through each part of the community with genuine enthusiasm and made sure I understood the full range of amenities and options available. Her explanations were clear and thoughtful and she created an environment where asking questions felt completely natural. She also offered great insight into the surrounding area and what current residents enjoy most. Her guidance truly elevated the entire tour and left me feeling excited about the possibility of calling Campus Village my home.
