This apartment has been nothing but issues ever since we moved in. On the day we were supposed to move in they delayed allowing us in the apartment because they were doing renovations and only was allowed in the apartment by fighting with management, who was extremely rude and disrespectful. When we started moving in there was no air conditioning, no appliance hooked up, no working shower, pipes leaking, pretty much everything wrong. After weeks of back and forth with maintenance and management the majority of the issues were resolved. We thought that was bad. Overtime we started seeing more and more roaches. They were everywhere, we are extremely clean, we sprayed and cleaned, but the roaches are in the vents and pest control does nothing to resolve the issue. I have lived here for eight months now and the roaches still continue to be there. Iâve woken up three separate times with a roach in bed with me. Not only are the roaches bad, I have two cats who got fleas so bad that no matter how many pills, baths, treatments, even shaving them, could I get rid of the fleas. We had to remove the cats from the apartment for a month to let them recover and heal. Now on top of the roaches, we have flies all over the place, we have fly traps and clean so much, but they will not go away. This place is so disgusting it is inhumane to let anyone live this way. Besides the bugs we had mold growing in the apartment from day one, which was reported to management and just two weeks ago was any treatment done to get rid of the mold. It took 6 months for them to replace a baseboard that was missing from the kitchen from the renovations and cabinet doors have still not been installed, as promised that they would be within weeks of moving in. They do not allow you to choose whether you want heat or air conditioning, so for half the time Iâve lived here the apartment is 50 degrees in the winter or 80 in the summer. This place is not worth the money especially now that utilities wonât be included. If I could go back in time I wouldâve never even considered this place, it has been the worst 8 months of my life so far!! The photos are from the first day we moved in and the bug situation

I wanted to apologize to the young lady in the office that I got upset with today for wasting my time. {She offered to write out a list of alternative 1 bedroom units that might be lower cost for my UNT student daughter and then handed me a list (that took a while for her to write out), with only 2 bedrooms listed. đ«€} I should not have reacted the way I did. You did a great job of staying professional. You said the property manager was âtoo busyâ to talk to me, but the entire time I was there she just walked back and forth around the office, purposely ignoring me. Anyway, Itâs not your fault that management doesnât address maintenance needs in a timely fashion. (Like the leak in the ceiling that has only been patched over and over for 7 months-still leaking with a rotted ceiling now which attracts even more roaches). When the AC went out it took months for them to come and stick an ugly window unit in. So I sincerely apologize for my behavior. **I would have called to apologize but you all do not ever answer the phone or return messages. I certainly hope your script about being, âunder new managementâ with âimprovements comingâ proves to be true one of these days. In 5 months so far it has not. I totally get that you have no incentive to have good customer service or care about your tenants, so no hard feelings. I do however, truly apologize for my behavior towards you. Sincerely, Angelica

My friend moved to Denton and signed a lease at this apartment complex. Worst decision heâs ever made, and after seeing the apartment for myself, I can guarantee this is the worst apartment complex in Denton. Only two visitor spots, and if theyâre full and youâre forced to park right next to them, you will get towed even if you issue a parking permit. Apartment is roach infested and filled with bugs crawling out of the pipes. No temperature regulation in this complex, a 100° day will cause it to be even hotter inside. If itâs cold outside, itâs colder in the apartment. So much more complaints, however I feel Iâve made my point, DO NOT MOVE HERE. NOT WORTH THE PRICE.

Hello Friends,I donât want to give even a single star. Iâm currently living in The Lights Apt. I have very bad experience living here. I request you to not join here. Initially we were out on chillers and hot water and now currently we are out on ac for summer. In between we were charged double on gas and electricity also water charges reaching too high. When we went to speak about it they said they will resolve the issue but no response on emails and also avoiding to meet. I havenât seen such bad experience ever in my residency. The management keeps be changing and will be starting from scratch, where they donât solve any issues. Iâm planning to cancel my lease as i started falling sick because of hot temperature at my home. I suggest to be away from there leasing properties.

Dear students of UNT and other residents of Denton, if you are interested in living near campus, I would not recommend The Lights. The luxuries of the complex start and end on how close it is to campus. In my personal experience, I've had cockroach infestations on an almost daily basis, garbage laying about outside my door, a stench of weed seeping through the vents from my lovely upstairs neighbors, and biweekly-interval paced breaks from the apartment's AC units and heaters, sometimes not being fixed for up to a week. That's okay though, the maintenance staff like to help you with these issues by never responding to any of your work orders or emails. I don't know what's worse: a pet fee they charge you even though you don't own a pet, or a pest control fee they charge you even though roaches seem to never go away. The property managers also like to over-promise their residents with $75 gift cards as consolation for the water boiler being broken 2 months back. Still waiting for my gift card! In all seriousness, if you are interested in finding an apartment, please go somewhere else. The closeness to UNT is not worth it. Much love, Your friendly neighbor from The Lights
