The Spoke, davis-ca

I recently visited The Spoke and had a great experience. The new property manager has done an amazing job creating a welcoming atmosphere, and you can tell the team genuinely cares about both current and future residents. Everyone in the office was incredibly friendly, professional, and happy to answer all of my questions. Felt comfortable from the moment I walked in, and they took the time to make sure I had all the information I needed. After my visit, I'm really looking forward to living at The Spoke this upcoming school year. It's exciting to see a team that's so welcoming and committed to making this a great community. I can't wait to move in!

My experience was absolute crap. I was placed with two very difficult roommates on separate occasions that made my life absolutely hell. The experience was so bad that the office actually reccomended I get a restraining order against one of the roommates. The apartments are in bad condition with cracks in the walls, bugs, and stained bathrooms. It is evident that they used cheap quick fixes on major property issues. One pool has been gross and green and closed for quite a while so no three pool access. The dumpsters are raided at night by the homeless even though they “hired security”. Because this location is on the train tracks, homeless people camp out along the fence which resulted in a fire. This fire grew so big and tall that we got lucky it didn’t travel to the other apartments because the trees that caught fire were tall enough to send sparks to the other buildings. The water gets turned off for “repairs” every month and sometimes they don’t even tell you until after! I had the worst experience living here and I’m lucky I didn’t get robbed and have all my things burn up in a fire :) New management has come in and their main priority is the appearance of the properties and not actually where residents live and spend most their time. No we do not want little libraries and resident events like pick up a taco from Wednesday at 1-3pm (when everyone is at work), we want people to actually work for the residents and listen and fix these apartments.

My girlfriend lives here, and while it had a rough start when she first moved in, you can really tell the community has come a long way. The office staff is always friendly, and the maintenance team has been quick to respond to every work order. Since the management change, it's obvious that the property is being well taken care of. A special shoutout to Adam for taking the time to talk with both my girlfriend and me about our concerns and genuinely caring about making things better. It's refreshing to see management that listens and follows through. Keep up the great work!

I will say staff was nice. However, my apartment was so moldy and nasty. They had to replace maintenance team because the guy quit, as well as the property manager. That speaks for itself. Kind of a slumlord vibe, charging way too much for the quality of housing this is.

Charged way too much for the quality and location of the apartment. I paid ~$1300 a month in a single for the following aspects: Management was nice but that was about it. Train was annoying everyday both in the morning, afternoon, and at night. Water was constantly shut off, maintenance was not on top of their game, had to constantly nag for them to do stuff, interior of the apartment is really dated.
