Living at The Colleges at La Rue has honestly been one of the few positive parts of my UC Davis experience. The apartments are clean, modern, and conveniently located right on campus. The surroundings are quiet, the facilities are well maintained, and the access to nearby parks and the Farmers Market makes it feel like an actual community. Management is responsive, the environment is peaceful, and the place gives residents a sense of independence and stability. Unfortunately, once you step outside of The Colleges, you are reminded that the rest of UC Davis does not live up to the same standard. In my experience, UC Davis has serious problems with accountability, fairness, and how complaints are handled. Too often, concerns about faculty mistreatment, unfair treatment, or student well-being seem to be minimized, ignored, or covered up rather than addressed honestly. The university presents itself as progressive and student-centered, but the reality can feel very different when students are dealing with disorganized departments, poor communication, and an administration that seems more focused on protecting its reputation than fixing real problems. The quality of education also does not feel worth the cost or the image UC Davis tries to sell. Many graduates still struggle financially after leaving, which raises serious questions about the value of the degree, the career support, and the overall rigor of the institution. A university that markets itself as elite should produce better outcomes and treat students with more fairness and respect. The Colleges at La Rue shows what UC Davis could be: organized, peaceful, clean, and well managed. Unfortunately, the broader university often feels like the opposite. If you have to be at UC Davis, The Colleges at La Rue is one of the better places to live — just do not expect the same quality, accountability, or professionalism from the university itself.

I’ve lived at The Colleges at La Rue for the past three years while attending UC Davis, and as I get ready to graduate this June, I really wanted to recognize how great the team here has been during my time living here. I especially want to thank Brance, Isaac, and John for how helpful they were recently. I had a pretty major issue come up, and first thing in the morning they were already at my door ready to help. They handled everything quickly and professionally, but what stood out most to me was the way they went about it. They were funny, friendly, positive, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was taken care of. They really made a stressful situation a lot easier. I truly appreciate all three of them. They went above and beyond, and they are some of the most genuine and pleasant people I’ve interacted with. Thank you again to Brance, Isaac, and John, and to everyone at The Colleges at La Rue for making my experience here such a positive one.

5 star experience all the way through! My wife and I lived here when we went to UCD and it was an incredible place to live. Close to the school, well maintained, and respectful neighbors. However, more recently I've experienced top of the line customer service from Rachel in the office. She has literally gone out of her way to ensure that a package which was shipped to my old address, is able to arrive to my now current address in SoCal. She was super kind and helpful each step of the way. She could have easily decided to not help out with this matter, but instead she went above and beyond. Thank you so much for your help, and I hope a raise is headed your way for your outstanding service!

This apartment complex was really bad. Only decent thing about it was the fact that it’s so close to campus but it’s infested with cockroaches at night (esp in the summer). The bathrooms mold often because it’s so old and there’s no proper ventilation (the fans don’t do much even tho we changed the filter) and all maintenance has to say is to clean it with bleach. If you’re gonna stay here at least get the second floor.

Living at The Colleges at La Rue has been nothing short of amazing. The entire team here is truly the best. They are always attentive, quick, responsive, understanding, and empathetic. Anytime we’ve needed anything, they’ve gone above and beyond to make sure we’re taken care of. When our dishwasher needed to be replaced, they handled it immediately, just like they do with every request. You can really feel how much they care about the residents and how committed they are to making this a great place to live. It’s rare to find such genuine kindness and dedication. I’m so grateful to call this community home.
