Highlands at Cullowhee, cullowhee-nc

Several issues including(missing furniture) when my son moved in and they were a bit slow to respond in the beginning. Once I reached Eric, he has been quick to respond and take care of most of the issues we had that were consequential. I can now recommend this complex, but I would visit the apartment before the move in date if possible. Update(4-18-21) I found out that the dog hair from prior tenants was not cleaned. I can no longer recommend the complex. My son tried to get it all vacuumed up but it was near impossible.

I wish I could give a zero. Terrible experience throughout my whole time living here and trying to end my lease. The property manager is a rude, arrogant little man who acts like a child when anyone challenges his opinion or questions him. My apartment was constantly filled with various bugs, the day I arrived my mattress was left outside the unit in the dirt by the property manager, our dryer was almost constantly torn up and it always took weeks to get it fixed. I’d be happy to provide pictures and screenshots to anyone who would like to see them. After I moved out they created a variety of charges for me and my roommates to have to pay. They’re very crooked and only see dollar signs. I’d recommend renting anywhere else besides here.

Since the beginning we have had the worst experience. Pay too much for new poorly done apts. My son’s roommate experienced a toilet leak, which caused leaking to come through a vent on him and his bed. Called maintenance, but he wasn’t onsite. He was in another state, getting back no time soon. No property manager on site either and they never answer the phone that is on the website. Response time to apt was over 6 hrs. He was offered to sleep in another empty apt on the floor with no blinds for privacy either. What kind of BS is that and who would offer that to a renter. Can’t wait for the lease is up. Rent with caution. This was our only option this year and worse first experience for my son living off campus. I don’t even know if he ever got a dresser for his clothes.

This place and Western Carolina Rentals is a complete scam. For the amount of money you spend to live here and you have absolutely no pool, gym, community center, etc, it’s ridiculous. They charged me and my 3 roommates $400 in cleaning fees after we had moved out when I know for a fact that apartment was always clean. Only positive was no paid parking. 3/10

I've had a great experience with the new management. The apartments look practically new and have plenty of space. I've also never had a bad experience with maintenance. The most disruption I've had is hearing a weed whacker run once a week or so but you get that everywhere.
