808 West Apartments, cullowhee-nc

One of the best housing areas at WCU. Much better value than a dorm room (I've lived in 3 dorms), decent prices, GREAT gym, probably the best gym, amazing clubhouse, the 2nd best pool, helpful staff etc. The complaints about the WIFI were 2 years ago, the wifi is now 220 mbps, or as fast as 5G so great upgraded wifi now. Parking is nice but they need to expand guest parking. Pool is a nice salt water pool, better than chlorine. Rooms are good size, bigger than a dorm room PLUS you get a bathroom, kitchen, furnished appliances, TV, fridge, microwave/stove, and parking.

This has been a great place to live! The amenities are great and they host small events occasionally which can be fun. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Maintenance requests are handled immediately. There was some fur on the baseboards when I moved in but after telling the office they sent a cleaning crew up to my apartment right away. Like other reviews, the carpet wasn’t shampooed though.

Was having a stellar time with friends (as a guest) at this complex’s pool when the manager on duty (7/12/18) literally yelled at my girlfriend and I to leave immediately because we were “acting like animals” by drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette outside the physical walls of the pool. VERY inhospitable and rude opposed to asking us to adhere to the rules they are enforcing. Beautiful place, rude staff!!!

It’s a very nice living space with top tier amenities. I especially like the pool and appreciate the parties thrown by the office. The staff are lovely and maintenance in the rooms is swift. I have definitely enjoyed living here. The only things holding it back are exterior lights; most of the lights in the building’s stairwells are broken and have been for months. The parking lot lights do work, but they direct light exclusively downward so if you’re not directly under them the parking lot is very dark.

808 is my home away from home and I could not recommend it enough! I specifically chose these apartments because of how close it is to campus (5 min walk). The apartment itself is more modern and up to date with the appliances and furniture. It does come furnished. There’s a clubhouse that has a small but great gym, a coffee/study area, and the downstairs has a pool table and other assortment of games/tv. This is a great spot to hang out with friends. There is also a small dog area and stands set up with free dog bags so people can pick up after their pets. 24/7 access to two computers and a printer at no extra cost as well as package pickup. Anytime that I have walked into the office or even gave them a call for any questions, I was always greeted with a smile and treated with amazing hospitality. I have needed maintenance a couple of times and each time they were quick to fix the problem the same day. The staff here is truly amazing and easy to work with! I have loved living here!
