I went to see The Cottages Apartments in Corpus Christi Texas. Janella gave me a tour and I was very pleased with her service. The Apartments are very spacious and clean. The pool is a big plus for the summer. Also the location is very convenient because it is close to shopping areas, TexasA&M, Hospital and many restaurants. I would highly recommend these apartments.

Let’s go down the list. Community advertises that it’s gated and the gate has been broken and stuck open for months. Following a shooting that took place at their community pool management did nothing besides have CCPD sit at the open gate for a few days. WiFi outages occur frequently and take a long time to fix with little communication from management. Even when it is up and running it’s near worthless. The pool is closed very often and when it is open it looks disgusting. There are no on property cameras to monitor anything even following the kidnapping that took place a couple years ago. Rent is “cheap” but disproportionately rated. A 5 bedroom is $650 a month per person and there’s no world you can convince me one of those leaky, dirty, and poorly insulated units is worth $3250 a month in totality. The 3rd party utilities app they use to charge you is a known scam and will overcharge you frequently. Coming up on move out there was going to be a week gap between move out and move in to my new location, and the office wanted to charge me $1,400 for one week extra. Luckily the lovely managers at Stella moved up my move in date. Furthermore, I paid for a full month’s rent the month of July and am still expected to move out the 24th despite the fact that no one is scheduled to move into my unit which doesn’t make sense because I moved in at the end of August and was charged for that entire month because they don’t pro-rate anything. Car break ins happen frequently because THE GATED COMMUNITY DOESNT HAVE A FUNCTIONING GATE. I cannot speak for every unit but every time it rains our windows and doors leak water which allows bugs of all varieties inside. Luckily the floors are discolored and disgusting in every unit anyways besides the model that they will proudly flaunt as if it’s anything like the residential spaces. If you do tour I would demand to see your actual unit. Obviously it’s a college student focused property so the constant noise and parties are not a component of my 1 star review but be aware. Packages are stolen frequently so it’s worth investing in a doorbell camera. In unit problems they do bother do address are half baked and frequently reoccur such as the microwave they replaced which now hangs loosely on the wall above the stove. This is the worst rental property near TAMUCC and you’d be better off at student housing. I really like the room mates they selected for me though so that justifies the 1 star rather than the 0 star they otherwise deserve. They have run many financial incentives in the past to encourage people to leave 5 star reviews so I’d take all of those with a grain of salt. This place is “cheap” for a reason , renter beware and audit everything they charge you for. They will nickel and dime you to death until the end of your lease. I love leaving good reviews but this place and the staff do not deserve it. Best of luck!

Went to visit the Cottages recently because I am looking for an apartment for my som who attends TAMUCC. Kate helped me, and she was extremely patient and very friendly! She gave us a tour and answered all of our questions. Very nice property and Kate was very helpful!

While I did enjoy living here, new management just took over, and I cannot recommend them. To let residents know of the management change, they decided to illegally enter all residences without any notice to put a paper sign on each bedroom door notifying of the change and that the resident portal would be down. They did not answer their phones after they did this and when I went to the office to ask why they entered without notice, they claimed it was in my lease that they are allowed to, yet my lease stated 24 hours notice prior to entry, and the old management had never done this. I let them know this was a terrible way to introduce themselves, yet over the next few days they proceeded to do this with maintenance workers showing up asking to be let in without warning and even entering without permission again. I do not trust this new management group and am glad I was moving out as they seemed very invasive and did not care about privacy or following the leases. In addition, I had issues with other residents while living there, like them getting drunk and throwing glass bottles around cars and at the front of my house, beer cans and liquor bottles thrown in my yard and parking spots, and a gun hidden under my car by my neighbors. While the houses and property are nice, the new management and insane neighbors make this not the best place to move into.

I’ve been looking for campus housing in the area for my little sister and stopped by the cottages for a last-minute tour. Despite it being right before close, Janella gave a wonderful tour and answered my many questions. I was very impressed with their accommodation! The cottages will definitely be one of our top choices this fall!
