I truly had a great experience when I toured Uncommon Columbus for my daughter. From the moment I walked in, the environment felt welcoming, organized, and student-centered. The staff as a whole were professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. One staff member who stood out in particular was Caree. She was exceptional—very knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure I felt informed and comfortable throughout the process. She took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, explained the program in detail, and made sure I understood how everything would support my daughter’s growth and success. It’s not always easy to find a place where you feel confident entrusting your child, but this visit gave me a strong sense of reassurance. The level of care, communication, and professionalism demonstrated—especially by Caree—made a lasting impression. I would highly recommend Uncommon Columbus to any parent looking for a supportive and engaging environment for their adult children.

Despite multiple emails to the management complaining about dumpster truck coming at 2am and disrupting residents’ sleep, I have not receive any updates for the past 1 month, my complaint is basically ignored. It’s been over 3 month since the dumpster trucking coming to collect trash at ungodly hours. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (3/5 schools days) 2am and 5am respectively, you can expect these trucks coming and making sudden, ear-deafening loud bangs that will make you jump from your bed and your heart races. It’s like living in a war dungeon. Now my body has been programmed to wake up at 2am or 5am even on days that’s not on dumpster schedule, my sleep is completely ruined and health is severely affected. Not to mention the weekend party noise and the overflowing dumpster room. If you are thinking of living here, DON’T, unless you want to sacrifice your sleep and okay with a management that don’t give a shit about their resident.

Although the Uncommon community has some positives, my experience here has unfortunately been quite negative overall. I first signed my lease with uncommon under the impression that I would be receiving a $1,000 gift card that could be put toward rent for August. This was a false promise and I did not receive my gift card until November after having to contact management several times regarding the topic. Around November I also experienced the first of many, many water leaks from my ceiling. Having my living room, carpet, coffee table, etc. soaked every time it has rained for months has been extremely frustrating. Maintenance does not communicate with the residents and will come into the apartments without notice. They have now cut a large hole in my ceiling without contacting me for over a week to explain what they are doing to fix this problem. They will not treat a leak in your ceiling as an emergency for several months. As for the complex in general. The majority of residents here are undergraduate students, but they are extremely messy. The hallways and trash rooms are constantly overflowing, with people being too lazy to put their trash down the garbage shoot. The elevators here frequently break, and so does the parking garage door that is meant to be protecting our cars that we pay $120 a month to park here. The walls of the apartments are paper thin and I can hear full conversations and music from people walking and driving on high street 5 floors below me as if they are right outside my living room. The library across the street plays strange opera or classical music at all times of the day that you can hear from your bedrooms too. Uncommon also uses a package room based off of an honor system where you use a code to access the room and grab your package, but this leaves the opportunity to also grab any other package sitting in the room. I had several packages stolen in December. I would like to end with some positive experiences I had at Uncommon though. The management here has been a pleasure to work with. They try their best to quickly address the concerns brought to their attention, and they work with the residents to make their experience here better. The complex also has great amenities with a large study lounge, gym, yoga room, clubhouse, etc. They keep these areas clean. They also have a security guard that sits in the entrance and does rounds on the floors during the weekends which makes the complex feel a little more safe. My negative experience here may have been a unique situation, but unfortunately I would not pay to live here again.

Do not live here under any circumstance. It is not safe or clean. There are clearly several fake reviews on here. -The pool has been green and swampy for a month now, the hot tub has been empty -They randomly charge you fees, I got a completely random "trash fee" for not breaking down a singular box for $500!!! I followed trash rules and there was no proof of anything I did. When I confronted the manager and said I did not do this and also the lease states violations are $75, they took it away. -They just completely closed down the trash room and now we have to walk around the building into the alleyway to throw away any trash -Compared to the rest of campus, the area is not the safest. The "security" they hired is mostly terrible. They smoke weed and blast music in the lobby and have literally borderline harassed me more than once (two separate people). -My packages are stolen constantly (I cannot order packages here) and random homeless people often get into the lobby and amenity rooms -There are rats and roaches despite personal upkeep of our apartment -The price is absolutely outrageous for how this apartment is maintained I understand it is unfair that some residents may treat amenities like the trash room or pool poorly, but we signed a lease for these additions and pay over $1000 a month for these items we do not recieve.

If I could give this apartment complex 0 stars, I would. My sister has lived here for 10 months and she has been in distress ever since. She is a senior at The Ohio State University and has been unable to sleep since moving into this building. Despite signing a 12-month lease, she has been unable to break it, even after repeatedly seeing rats in her apartment since the day she moved in. She calls me multiple times a day in tears after spotting yet another rat in her apartment. She has contacted management several times, but nothing meaningful has been done beyond placing a few traps. The lack of urgency and concern from management has been unacceptable. My sister's senior year has been negatively impacted by the conditions at Uncommon Columbus. If you want to live in an infested apartment complex with poor management and little empathy for residents, then this may be the place for you!!! I wouldn't even let my dog live here for free!!! This apartment complex is filthy and management has shown a complete lack of accountability and care.
