For this assignment, I chose to examine the accessibility of the apartment building The View on High on North High Street. When first approaching the building, I realized that there are two entrances, at the front and in the parking garage. The front door to this building was not automatic, so it would definitely be difficult for a wheelchair user to get in through the front. However, each entrance provided a staircase as well as an elevator to accommodate individuals that need wheelchairs. The next thing I noticed was that every individual apartment required an actual key to unlock it. I have seen that in many other apartments you only need a key fob which would be a lot easier and stress-free for someone who is blind. In addition, when I entered an apartment, I noticed immediately that someone in a wheelchair would have an extremely difficult time in many aspects of their living situation here at The View on High. First, the walkway from the living room to the kitchen is very narrow, causing the kitchen table to take up majority of it. There is certainly not enough room for someone in a wheelchair to get through. Next, the closets in each of the rooms are not very accessible, as the shelves are way too high for someone in a wheelchair or even someone that is not very tall. I am an average height and cannot reach the shelf, so I can imagine this being very difficult for most people, especially those who use wheelchairs. Lastly, the showers in every bathroom of the apartment were not at all accessible for wheelchair users. Being that it is a bathtub, someone who gets around in a wheelchair would not be able to bathe independently. If the bathrooms instead had walk-in, wheelchair accessible bathtubs, it would better satisfy the needs of someone with a disability. Overall, I think that this apartment building could have done a better job making sure that this was accessible for anyone and everyone.

This apartment unit is the best apartment ever. Everything is great quality and amazing. Ryan who works there has been super helpful with any problem and helps get them fixed. Amazing place

An unhoused man who has been sleeping every night for the past three months INSIDE the parking garage DIRECTLY next to my daughter's parking spot that you can see below in picture. She has resorted to backing into her parking space so she doesn't have to exit her vehicle next to his body. I've sent her pepper spray and taser. This situation poses a significant safety concern, and NO immediate action has been taken. My daughter has already expressed her worries to management, and as she works early mornings—often before sunrise—and frequently returns home in the evening after studying, I cannot overstate the need for prompt intervention.

I visited a friend and the out door amenities were amazing! The grills are top tier and they supply free propane!
