I stayed here for the past two years, and I hated it more every month. Pros: Great location! Cons: The villains that own this place could not care less about the tenants. For the longest time, only one entrance was working; the one next to the permanently broken elevator. But at least the working elevator was next to the BROKEN entrance. On that note, the entrances were often unlocked, so homeless folks would live in the stairway which is kind’ve funny but mostly scary. Bonus, every time the handy man is at my place, EVERY TIME, he crop dusts my apartment. Literally leaves my place in a stinky haze that I was totally free from before he came by. It seems intentional. Whenever I would get a notification from Amazon that my package was delivered, I’d actually be able to pick it up at the office a week later. What were they doing? Shaking my packages to guess what was in them before handing them over?? One reason I was drawn to this place, was the promise of a pool, which as of early July at least, has been closed because of the overwhelmingly stinky green MUCK and mire that’s filling it up. I honestly can’t believe this place is still in business

I’ve had such a good experience at Statehouse Highline. The leasing team is literally the best, they’re always super helpful and actually kind whenever I stop by with questions. It makes a huge difference living somewhere where the staff genuinely cares and makes things easy for you!

This place is an absolute joke. I lived here for 3 years and somehow it just kept getting worse every single year. The hallways constantly smelled like shit because people would leave trash piled up on the fourth floor for days. The doors were always left open so homeless people would literally sleep in the stairwells. Super safe, right? My washer and dryer broke after using it the exact same way for three years, and somehow they tried to tell me I was responsible for replacing it. Yeah… no. Then my key fob died, and when I called emergency maintenance and the lockout number, nobody answered or showed up. I literally had to sleep somewhere else because I couldn’t get into my own apartment. The front elevator barely ever worked, and for about a month the back entrance wouldn’t even open. I had to walk an entire lap around the building just to get into my own apartment. For the amount of rent they charge, that’s embarrassing. Speaking of rent, they raise it every single year by around $50 while somehow making the place worse. They also threw random charges on my account that made absolutely no sense. Management was a nightmare. During roommate issues they barged into my apartment with a maintenance guy accusing me of harassment even though I had video proof showing what was actually going on. Instead of listening, they just made assumptions. On top of that, random maintenance and cleaning crews would show up inside my apartment without any notice. Don’t even get me started on the amenities. The pool was closed for over half the summer and literally sat there full of green nasty water that smelled like shit. Everyone with balconies facing the pool got to enjoy staring at a swamp all day. Then it finally opened less than a month ago. Thanks for the “luxury amenities.” The gym was also closed for like two months for “renovations.” It finally reopened and looked exactly the same. I honestly have no idea what they renovated because nothing looked different. This place charges luxury apartment prices for college dorm quality management. Save yourself the headache, save yourself the money, and live literally anywhere else.

***MUST READ***I lived at this property from August 2024 to July 2025, and I can honestly say my experience was extremely disappointing. Below are just a few of the many issues I personally dealt with during my lease term: 1. Major Safety Concerns • In October 2024, I went to use the trash chute and instead found three unhoused individuals inside the trash room who had dragged in furniture, were smoking marijuana, and invited me in. When I reported this, management told me to call the non-emergency line — no staff came, and the police never arrived. This exact incident happened two more times in the following months due to broken locks that remained unfixed despite being reported. Only after the final incident did police get involved and the individuals were charged with trespassing. Locks were finally fixed weeks later, and security was only added after repeated complaints from me, my roommates, and even our parents. • A unit fire broke out in fall 2024 and the sprinkler system never activated. It turned out the system had not been inspected or maintained. The fire department had to remain onsite 24/7 for nearly a week — all of which was preventable. • During my lease, another unit was trespassed when someone swiped keys off a counter and stole a tenant’s car from the garage — yet another example of failed building security. 2. Emergency Response Failures • One night at 2 a.m., the hot water extension in our unit exploded, flooding our laundry room. We called every number provided, including “24/7 emergency maintenance” and “24/7 security.” Not a single person answered or came. We had to call the fire department ourselves to stop the flooding. 3. Poor Management and Communication • Management turnover was constant, with new faces every month and no consistent communication or accountability. • Utility billing was inconsistent, with charges applied to the wrong months. • The pool remained closed until June 23rd, even though management admitted they knew about a crack back in April. Meanwhile, they left the pool uncovered, full of green, swamp-smelling water for two months. 4. Unaddressed Facility Problems • Trash chutes often stayed stuck open, filling the hallways with rancid smells. I ended up putting magnets on them myself just to keep them closed — something management should have taken care of. • At one point, a homeless man was found sleeping in the club room surrounded by food and trash. Overall Experience This is just my personal experience in one year at this complex, and I can only imagine what other residents have endured. From unsafe living conditions to complete failures in emergency response and maintenance, I would strongly caution anyone considering leasing here.

You do not want your kid to move in here. Building has days without WiFi and they don’t fix anything in the units or common area. Elevator has been out for over 2 months. They ignore calls from residents. Not to mention there have been 2 shootings in the last 6 months on their doorstep
