This is my second year living at the flats, and I’m definitely happy with my choice to renew for this year. The apartments are spacious and better priced than other cville luxury apartments that offer similar amenities. The leasing office staff are incredibly kind and understanding, and they really care about making the place feel safe, welcoming, and like home. I do face the train, but the incredible view makes up for the train noise (pics attached). I honestly haven’t been bothered by it for a while. All in all, I’m happy with my choice to live here, And I appreciate having nice amenities and supportive leasing office staff!

Living here is a roller coaster. When I first moved in, I thought it would be amazing but the course of the last half year has proven the opposite. The countless fire alarms, elevators being broken down, as well as the filthiness of the hallways, elevators, stairs, parking garage, and general common areas all point to a lack of care from management. Speaking of the elevators, they are absolutely terrible even when they’re functioning. Once I’ve had to wait over 10 minutes for an elevator to come down to B2 (where I park my car), and by then one of my grocery bags busted and it was a nightmare carrying it to my apartment. The cost to live here is just completely unreasonable when compounded with these issues, and while I’ve had a better experience communicating with the new management, it’s not enough to make me want to renew for the next year. Another gripe is the washer/dryer situation. The models used in my apartment are absolutely tiny; I can barely fit 5 days worth of laundry in there and I don’t even go through clothes that quickly. At least the view is nice right? Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere cheaper and closer to UVA.

My daughter is a student at UVA and moved into The Flats this past August. Her apartment is gorgeous with nice floors, large kitchen, nice appliances, big bathrooms, washer/dryer and a nice view of the courtyard from her balcony. This Flats also has great amenities and the view of the mountains from the pool area is beautiful. My daughter is extremely happy living here.

Firstly, I would like to address the fire alarm. In the span of 2 years, the fire alarm has gone off maybe 100+ times. Not to mention this occurs at all times of the day, between 6am-11pm. Secondly, the Wi-Fi. My Wi-Fi goes out maybe 3-4 times a week. Thirdly, the elevators are consistently going out. Last spring there was one elevator for half of the building for the entire semester. This fall both elevators were down for a week for half of the building.

Do not live here. The fire alarm has gone off 3 times in one night, spanning 2 hours, and each time at the very least lasting 15 minutes if not more, during FINALS WEEK. No apology from management. They also changed printing so now you have to pay for it, and half the time they don't have ink. There is also a perpetual alarm that goes off at the front door. This place sucks.
