I lived in yugo during the school year of my sophomore year. I will admit it is a great location, though pricey with having to still use the free school gym, and no pool, or any amenities at all. The hallway was constantly dirty (and having a family member who is a landlord, she would frequently check public spaces for areas needing improvement), I do not belive that a paying tenant should have to put in a work order for a public areas that are constantly unkept. I had issues with my dryer and my AC not working at the beginning of school year during move in which took two weeks to fix leaving the apartment feeling the weather of the Charleston heat. I belive they have gotten new staff in the leasing office since then, but still had a little trouble recently. I have moved out and sublet my apartment. I ended up having a package I ordered in April being back ordered and delivered after I moved out (May 15). I called the office seeing if a friend can come and grab it for me, and even got a text asking for my approval for the pick up. I was then told since I don’t live there and do not have an account it is illegal for them to go into the lockers. I granted them access and even asked the current sub letters to see if they could grab it after giving them access as well. The day after the call of wanting to retrieve my item with permission of another person, there was a refund in my account. I understand I received the money back, but it was very frustrating I was never told the item was being sent back as I called 24 hours before the return started processing.

I’ve had a pretty good experience with Yugo ever since I got here. The apartments are affordable for downtown Charleston, and the building is right in the middle of campus which is extremely convenient. The staff is always kind and willing to help. My only complaints are that the hallways can get dirty due to the valet trash service, and there is no valet recycling or even a recycling bin nearby. Those are relatively small issues, though. All around great and would recommend Yugo to other students on campus!

These people are so corrupt it’s not even funny. First of all the model apartment they show you is not even close to what you receive. Half of all of my appliances were broken or dysfunctional, my shower was out for two weeks and they just ignored my work orders consistently. The dryer takes 6 hours to fully dry your clothes, there is black mold under the sinks and in the vents. Also they charge you $50 if you have more than one trash bag which is just insane for college students. The students in the office are just absolutely useless and they are so disrespectful to residents, they blame every issue on the tenant. The worst part of my experience was move out, they charged me $800 dollars in “damages” and the photos they displayed were 2 pairs of jeans, plates, a toilet plunger and very reasonable wear and tear such as 2 small chips of paint. Please do not sign a lease here, this place is genuinely fraudulent and honestly should be investigated. They are probably gonna respond with something extremely condescending and completely disregard any issue I just addressed. Please do not sign here, they will milk you dry for everything you have with no remorse.

I wanted to take some time to leave a review as my two (and a half? I can't remember) years living in this building are wrapping up. I was in this building right before the transition over to the Yugo management team and things have really only gotten better. Everything is organized and streamlined. The building and location is great. Yugo is the best rate for a private bedroom and an in unit washer/dryer. Plus the location cannot be beat, right off of king street making part/full time work accessible and literally on campus making classes only a five minute walk away (maybe even shorter depending on where you're going). CVS is right across the street which has served me so well. I have to give a giant shoutout to the maintenance team here. They are truly amazing. They are extremely communicative and kind. The office staff here is also amazing. They are extremely professional, kind, and communicative. The patience they also have is immense, they tackle so much every day while still creating an amazing community experience. They will hold giveaways, have free sweet treats for residents in the office, and hold different activities as well. My experience here has been great and I recommend this building to any CofC student looking for an apartment.

Room was substantially different (much much smaller) than model toured. Additionally, room & bathroom were dirty, outlets in bedroom do not work, shower head falling off wall & water pressure in shower is extremely poor. Desk chair is broken and appears unsafe, desk leg broken, top of desk wood veneer is missing, resulting in uneven desk surface. Be warned, serious bait and switch and complete lack of transparency during initial process and subsequent move in. UPDATE - Property Managers contacted us to discuss and walk through our concerns. All issues were resolved within 24 hours. Impressed with the response and customer service. Revising review from 2 to 4 stars.
