Mill Creek Condominiums, chapel-hill-nc

Recently, my son has moved here for his Junior year in college at UNC. The condominium complex is older than some in the area but has been kept up. For the price, this is an excellent choice! Close enough to campus and convient to a bus stop. It does have a small pool too. Parking has not been an issue either, which is great!

It’s a good place to live - safe, quiet, mostly students, and close to campus. But these pros are balanced out by many cons. Parking is a nightmare, the spots are smaller than the tiny spots I’ve seen in Europe. They don’t enforce the parking rules so I believe a lot of non-residents park here as well, but I don’t mind this as much. The units are rented out individually by owners, so some are more renovated than others. Despite being in a more renovated one, the place is just old, so stuff breaks and leaks a lot. We’ve had three pretty major leaks so far in about 20 months of being here, and the ceiling looks like a patchwork quilt from all the places they have had to fix other leaks. The insulation and seals around windows and doors aren’t great, it’s drafty and gets COLD in here in the winter. Commuting from here to the med school area is a nightmare because the buses get full by the time they get up here, so I usually have to leave over an hour early. A lot of units have increased prices dramatically with this next cycle of students coming in, and I believe this is totally unfair and not worth the money. It’s an alright place to live if you need to be within walking distance of north campus, but just know you are paying largely for the location.

Great location and size for the price. Parking spots are a little tight but manageable. Old building but well kept. Along multiple bus routes (NS, HS, T, G) that go into campus. Can expect one every 10-15 min. Not many amenities but if you live here you are almost certainly a student and can access everything you need (gym, courts, fields, pool) on campus.

Customer service is pretty sad. I asked for more information about an unit and also if there were any options and I was replied with "Sorry. does not work". If you are looking to get good reviews, I would suggest improving your customer service because it is poor and pathetic. The person I was speaking with was Frank, and he should definitely not be working there because he does not reflect the quality service you provide. I will never be looking for a room here again, and many future Tarheels should definitely not be looking here as well. Imagine the maintenance request or if you had an issues, and receiving poor quality like this. It is sad that I was considering Mills Creek, but I will now be looking into Chapel Hill North Apartments and Collins Crossing. Hopefully, you fire that person.

Great place for students. Reasonably priced and close to campus. The complex was built in the 80's but is well maintained.
