I have lived here for 2 years and have definitely seen how the building and business have been on a downward spiral. The building itself is slowly falling apart with no one doing the proper renovations to keep it in check. The building was built in 2012/2013 and I don’t there has been any serious renovations done since then, even though they are needed. For example, my own front door barely fits the hinges, so I can see a crack outside. My front door key would constantly break in the door hinges because of the cheap locks. This would not be a big deal except the security sucks. There were a handful of times I would walk down to the courtyard and see homeless people sleeping on the benches because there was no lock on the back door by the garbage. I brought this up to management, though they seemed unconcerned. The garage door was broken half the time so it was just wide open for anyone to enter. I know one resident whose car was broken into during this time. I thought I was paying for a “secure” environment? The owners are constantly MIA randomly decided to switch management last summer which made everything worse. They use to have a wonderful manager, Ashley, who left the property and since then things have taken a turn for the worse. NONE of the employees know what is going on so everything you call you will hear “I don’t know the answer to that, let me ask my manager…” and it is an endless cycle because even the manager does not know. During move out, I asked the front desk where the moving carts were because there was about ONE available got a response “I’m not sure… I can ask my manager but I wouldn’t get your hopes up because I don’t think we’ll find any more…” Like ???? How does an apartment complex not prepare for the residents moving out? I am not surprised that no one received their security deposits last year in time considering no one knew how to do that or that they were supposed to send those out. I will be surprised if I receive mine at all. The good things of this apartment - the maintenance staff, specifically Braden, is super nice and very efficient. There is a cleaning woman who comes in a few times a week to clean the lobby and gym, and she is very nice as well. The lobby looks great and is very clean. The apartment units themselves need work, but they are still nicer than some other ones compared. Most of the people here are seniors who don’t care. There is a gym here, which is convenient. Management would put on events and provide food and music and fun stuff like that. Like, that’s nice, but I think that funding can be used for some more important things… Overall, yeah there are some worse apartments on campus, but if you’re paying for a “luxury” apartment I would look elsewhere because that is not the case here. I used to live at 212 Green and definitely prefer that one to Maywood. Just wanted to add an update: I came back over the summer to finish moving out and they changed all the locks without any notice. No email or anything. My own key doesn’t work in my door, for an apartment that has a lease for another month. They have absolutely no respect for their tenants. Do not live here.

My roommate and I lived at Maywood for 2 years, it was great with the old management and when Ashley was in the office. Before, I would have given 5 stars. During this past year, new management took over and has had the worst communication. It’s been 80 days since we have moved out and still no deposit for my roommate. I’ve called 5-6 times for mine and sent many emails (no response). They never asked for our new address so I was told they sent the deposit to Maywood, which makes no sense if we are moving out. Overall the building is nice and safe, but good luck trying to get a response out of management or anything done in a timely manner. Braden the maintenance worker was great and was always super helpful.
Riley Welcome
I moved out in August, and here we are, halfway through November, and my security deposit is still nowhere to be found. Legally, they had 45 days to return it, but I guess following the law is just a suggestion for them. Maywood has proven they have absolutely no interest in handling even the most basic aspects of property management. They’re quick to take your money, but good luck getting them to follow through on their end of the bargain. They clearly have zero respect for their tenants, the law, or accountability. If you’re even remotely considering renting here, save yourself the endless hassle and look elsewhere. This place is a nightmare dressed as a “management company,” and trust me, you can do better.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. The management team at Maywood are dishonest people who, for the lack of a better term, are just truly terrible at their jobs. It is now mid-November and my security deposit has been overdue for well over three months—more than twice the legally mandated 45-day window they have to return them. I’ve had 13 conversations on the phone with the office (yes, 13), as well as plenty of emails, and have gotten nothing but excuses and runaround. Every single conversation ends with a different explanation and zero actual action to resolve the issue. They told me they didn't have my address in nearly all 13 of my conversations with them (despite me providing it each and every time). It’s beyond frustrating and it's gotten to the point where I'm unsure if they're trying to steal my security deposit or if they're just truly incompetent. And here's the thing: this isn’t just happening to me. A quick glance at their Google reviews shows countless other tenants dealing with the same exact issue. This isn’t a mistake like they try to say—it’s a clear pattern of negligence and incompetence. Maywood’s inability to handle basic responsibilities like returning deposits on time says everything you need to know about how poorly this company is run. They have no respect for their tenants or their legal obligations, and their communication is abysmal. They’re quick to take your money but disappear the moment they owe you something. If you’re considering renting from Maywood, I strongly urge you to reconsider. There are plenty of property management companies out there that actually care about their tenants and take their jobs seriously. Maywood is the worst—save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

I loved living at Maywood! The on-site managers are super friendly and care about their tenants. The kitchen is massive and perfect for people who like to cook. The fitness center on the second floor is really convenient, especially when it's cold out. I appreciated having an in-unit washer and dryer, as it made doing laundry easy. The building is well-maintained and maintenance responds to requests promptly. I would 100% recommend living at Maywood!
