A Cautionary Tale: From Academic Dreams to a Fight for Survival ​At 37 years old, I achieved a lifelong goal: securing a spot in the School of Astrophysics and Planetary Studies. Driven by excitement and a newfound sense of faith, I finally felt that my life was on the right path. However, that hope was quickly shattered. ​While living in my campus-area dwelling, I became the victim of a series of horrific crimes. I was repeatedly assaulted in my own home while I slept. Most disturbingly, I was drugged to a state where I was conscious enough to feel the agony of what felt like surgical mutilation being performed on my body. Every day was a cycle of physical pain and psychological terror. ​When I cried out for help from the agonizing pain of these assaults, the situation only escalated. False reports were made against me, claiming I was a threat. This misinformation turned the police against me, leading to multiple high-tension encounters where I feared for my life at the hands of law enforcement. ​I eventually had to flee that apartment complex for my own safety. This is a plea for awareness: I am not seeking lawsuits or money. I am seeking justice and a warning to others. No one—regardless of their background—should weaponize campus police or the legal system to put another person’s life in danger through false accusations.
