Mountaineer Village, boone-nc

I have lived here since August and have loved it. The management has always been kind and proactive about communicating. The facility is generally clean and the grounds are kept well. Maintenance has been very quick to respond same-day when we have had small appliance issues. Our neighbors have been polite and non-disruptive. I have really enjoyed my time living here and would recommend it for people in the area looking for an affordable and reliable option.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT Not worth the rent, only one bus to service the entire place, no parking for visitors, and 24/7 harsh towing policies. Save your money and go anywhere else. Update: they changed towing hours 7a-7pm. This picture was taken at 6:30am. The tow truck is scouting out the parking lot. For context, Mountaineer Village has 570 rooms but there’s only about 20 visitor parking spots. Families you will not be able to visit your children. They do not accommodate with visitor family passes.

As a frequent visitor at Mountaineer Village, I’ve recently started experiencing major parking issues due to the new changes that were made. It’s frustrating that there are not enough visitor parking spots for the number of guests who come to see residents paying nearly $1,000 a month to live here. Currently, parking is restricted from 7 AM to 7 PM every day, including weekends, which was not the case before. During those hours, vehicles must be moved to a designated visitor spot or risk being towed. Most of the time, the tow truck driver is already waiting and ready to take vehicles right at 7 AM, which is insane. When I went out to move my vehicle, I noticed multiple students and parents driving around trying to find visitor spaces, only to discover they were already full from the night before. I’ve visited several other apartment communities around Boone, and none seem to have restrictions this unreasonable, especially on weekends when most people are visiting. Weekends used to have open parking, and that policy made far more sense because many residents go home, leaving the lots much emptier than during the week. Taking away weekend open parking has created a problem where visitors have nowhere to park even though there are often plenty of unused spaces available. If these rules are going to remain in place, management should either create more visitor parking spaces or dedicate an entire lot for visitors, similar to what University Highlands offers. At the very least, they need to bring back open parking on weekends. This is NOT a way to treat weekend guests at Mountaineer Village.

Nicole at the leasing office is absolutely amazing and works directly with the residents to help with all their concerns. She is so sweet, and my boyfriend and I actually brought her homemade cookies as a thank you for helping us! In general they've gotten better about visitor parking, its no longer 24/7, and they're pretty good about listening to the residents. Good place to live!

At the current price point, it's hard to argue Mountaineer Village is the best value place to live in Boone, but in comparison to the other large "nice" apartment developments it is both cheaper and significantly better managed. The office staff are lovely and helpful, and maintenance is attended to quickly and taken seriously, with a fair bit more preventative maintenance going on in comparison to other places I or people I know have lived in. The units are very spacious and don't leave much to be desired, with well functioning appliances and surfaces. I ended up here due to a last second need to move and have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of life. The biggest downside is the distance from campus/town, but the bus runs regularly enough to make this manageable and sidewalk coverage and expanded bus connection is likely in the cards for the next five years.
