Very frustrating experience with Union Blacksburg. I am graduating, so I called and spoke with Hannah on May 15 about doing a lease takeover. During that conversation, I was told that lease takeovers would not be approved, and the response came across as rude and dismissive. Based on that information, I fully moved out on May 16 and stopped pursuing the person who was interested in taking over my lease. What makes this even more frustrating is that residents were never informed months in advance that lease takeovers supposedly would not be allowed. There was no clear communication, announcement, or warning. I had to proactively call and ask myself just to find out what my options were. Then today I received an email stating that Union “may approve” up to 10 lease takeovers for graduating residents. This directly contradicts what I was told over the phone. If lease takeovers were potentially being approved, why was I told otherwise? Why was this information only communicated after I had already moved out? The entire situation feels extremely misleading and honestly scam-like. Residents are expected to make major financial decisions based on information provided by management. Being told one thing directly by staff and then receiving an official email saying something different after the fact is unacceptable. Because of this inconsistent communication, I lost the opportunity to have someone take over my lease, as the person who was interested is no longer interested. Would not recommend and this is not the first bad experience I’ve had with the manager Hannah.

Hannah, the leasing manager at Union Blacksburg is so wonderful! She has been so accommodating throughout my lease, working with me to help solve some issues I experienced. She also helped problem-solve to relieve me of having to get a lease-takeover for the following year! She goes above and beyond to help residents, and she made my experience that much better. The Union is also a great property, definitely recommend.

My son who goes to VT transferred in as a junior and needed a place to live. Since he never bothered to look himself we were lucky to find this place late last in the summer and secure a spot. Today we went in to get him a spot for next year(since he also didn’t bother to do that after asking multiple times). Keegan helped us choose a new spot (there are so many options!) this year he is sharing a room and I figure at 21 maybe you should have a single. You can choose between furnished and unfurnished. Single. Studio, double. We didn’t realize there are study areas AND free printing! This is huge apparently since my son has been going ALL(!) the way into school to print papers. I came with my mother and Keegan was so patient and kind with all 3 of us! This place has an amazing big pool incredible gym lots of study areas(we didn’t know about) and right next to the Kroger. And parking . Easy access to campus. Highly recommended! Go see Keegan!

Both Kaylee and Hannah were so easy to deal with when working through the leasing options for my daughter. They were so amazing at putting my mind at ease and answering every question imaginable. My daughter is super excited to live here, and I'll be sure to write another review once she has lived there a semester. I highly recommend working with the staff at the Union!
