The Laureate, berkeley-ca

I've been living here for my entire time at UC Berkeley. Across two different building managers and many semesters, it's just been easy. If something gets clogged, broken, or dented (as things often do when college kids are living together) response and support is quick and personal. Everybody is helpful and kind. After looking around at housing options all around Berkeley, the Laureate clean, comfortable, and spacious. I often use the upstairs gym (it's small but functional for light workouts), and we're only a short walk to and from campus. My apartment has a view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay (I attached an unedited photo of the best sunsey I have ever seen from my bedroom window). Probably the biggest pros of the apartment is our in-suite washer and dryer, on-floor garbage disposal, full oven and electric stove, and high speed internet. I run a full desktop PC using ethernet and getting great speeds upward of 700mbps download, and all my wireless devices connect perfectly. All of these different aspects just make this an easy and simple choice, which is why I never moved. The stresses that come with student housing have been fully mitigated, allowing me to focus on and enjoy all of my time here at Berkeley, as students should be.

I think I have horror stories from The Laureate. First, Wendy the property manager who “is supposed to be onsite 9-5 Monday through Friday” is never there so any problem you have, haha it will never get fixed. Weird random people do half-complete maintenance requests, the building is in disarray and disgusting, not to mention if you get a random roommate, you can be living with an assaulter or someone who is way older than you. When you move in, be prepared to get a unit that is never cleaned and has nose droppings on walls, along with bodily fluids on mattresses! Also, the mold problem is insane because I got so sick from the mold in the vents. Overall, do yourself a favor and lease elsewhere. This is a Raj Properties shell corporation and they have no regard for you as a tenant, let alone you as a person.

The Laureate is easily the best value in Berkeley. It’s a short walk to campus and they include high-speed Wi-Fi and all utlilities without nickel and diming me!

Oh my lord, where do I even start? Square one management is the worst management to ever rent with. Don't get me started with the small rooms where we are forced to be packed like a can of sardines! I hated living here and don't recommend anyone to even tour here. You are in for nothing but maintenance repairs, random people coming into your apartment, high rent, and terrible management. Save your money and maybe choose a cheaper building that has better management and better rates! Just because its new doesnt mean its worth it.

My son is officially moving out today, overall had a great experience here this year. My sons rooms door ran out of batteries late at night last month and we didn't know what to do and we thought he was going to be locked out. When we reached out they were super accommodating and guided us step by step on what to do get the door lock to open over the phone even though it was so late, thanks for everything!!
