The Den Apartments, berkeley-ca

literally dont waste your money here. they have the most careless management ever. their elevator keep breaking, it was broken for nearly a month a few months ago, and is broken again for the last week and they told us it would be down for 2-3 more weeks, during peak graduation and move-out season. we've called them multiple times, no one picks up and if they do, we just get the most basic responses about how they're doing everything they can. it should not take weeks for an elevator to be repaired when we are paying hundredsss of dollars in rent. i have to climb up 6-8 flights of stairs everyday due to this inconvenience. do notttt rent here.

I swear to God this is the worst apartment to live in Berkeley. The elevator was broken in November for FIVE WEEKS. AROUND FINALS. They give bs excuses about fixing it and shipping parts. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 5 WEEKS TO FIX AN ELEVATOR. They promised monetary compensation AND NEVER GAVE US ANYTHING!!! MY RENT SHOULD NOT BE 1500 A MONTH IF I HAVE ASTHMA AND WAS GETTING ASTHMA ATTACKS FROM GOING UP AND DOWN 7 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. ALSO THE HEAT IN THE ROOMS IS UNBEARABLE. MY THERMOMETER READ 95-100 DEGREES DURING HEATWAVES BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE AC!!!! FOR SOME REASON THEY LIE TO PEOPLE DURING TOURS AND SAY THEY HAVE AC BUT I SWEAR TO GOD THEY DONT. Now the elevator is BROKEN AGAIN FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS DURING GRADUATION AND MOVE OUT TIME. I HAD TO CANCEL MY GRADUATION PARTY BECAUSE MY FAMILY CANNOT COME UP THE STAIRS. I attached the stupid letter as proof that I'm a tenant here and proof of the elevator being down FOR NO REASON AND NO GAME PLAN OF IT COMING UP AGAIN ANYTIME SOON. All of the other google reviews are fake they all work for SG real estate. PLEASE I SWEAR TO GOD THE DEN MADE MY LIFE MISERABLE LIVE ANYWHERE BUT HERE THEY SUCK AND DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR CONCERNS AND ARE DISMISSIVE.

My sister recently got accepted to UC Berkeley as a transfer student. Because she is a transfer student, she didn’t really want to do the on campus housing. We were thrilled when we found The Den! The location is great! There are so many things around. There’s also very close public parking garages down the block if we’d want to visit her. The staff were friendly and responsive. They had different ranges of pricing, depending on what you’re looking for. We went for the by the bedroom option, that way she gets her own room (which is huge!) at a decent rate. Cannot wait to move her in!

Honestly, I think this place is really nice. I’m not sure about anyone else’s experiences, but I was taken care of and always had a quick response to any of my needs. If you’re looking for a place that is in a great location, good food, and safe area - there’s not much more you could ask for. I was nervous from some of the reviews, but I have only had good experiences.

The location couldn’t be more convenient — just a short walk to campus, making it perfect for students or anyone who wants to be close to the university. You’re also within easy reach of restaurants, cafes, and public transit. What really stands out, though, is the management. The staff here are truly exceptional — responsive, professional, and genuinely friendly.
