West Campus Elloras, austin-tx

Absolute horrible experience. We had cockroaches, the main door was broken several times and several locked bikes got stolen. The funtinture is super cheap and in a bad shape. The manager Natnael Solomon of Fllat (former Harrington housing) is super unreliable. I had an apointment for my move in when I flew into Austin. He simply did not show up and I had to get a expensive hotel for the night. Even though I already paid rent in advance. Btw. Next door is a fraternity do it’s super loud starting from Thursday until Sunday. Moved out as fast as I could.

UPDATE: Okay so after moving in and moving out I now understand why people are rating this place so low - the management is a giant scam. Here's a list of reasons why you should not trust the people who work here. First: They make you highly rate the place before you even move in, it's part of the application process. Weird? Yeah it's weird, but not a deal breaker. Well keep on reading. Second: Speaking of application process, you will be paying around $400 - $600 towards application fees when signing here, (note that this DOES NOT even include the security deposit and rent). The thing that management doesn't want you to know is, it's not all at once. First is the application form fee and co-sign form fee, then a possible sublet fee, then background check fee, management fee and soon you'll be wondering how many deposits you're putting down. Third: Did you know you will also be paying for carpet cleaners and carpet shampooing when you move out? If you did not know this, go ask the management about it because it's true. No matter how nice and tidy you keep the place, management will make you pay for carpet cleaners/shampoo, so add that to the list of expenses. Not to mention, those deposits I was talking about? Yeah you won't get them back. And if you're thinking to yourself, "Look I'm a clean, considerate person and I'm definitely not like some of my friends who are partiers/don't care about the place they live", then that's a normal reaction, and the same reaction we had. But take it from me, you will be paying regardless. What's worse is at the end of our lease, the management told us to not clean up our place, (which was spotless by the way), because it will be cleaned by the professional carpet cleaners and will be coming out of our security deposit anyway. We said okay, and asked how much the carpet cleaners were. Management told us it was whatever market value the cleaners are on that specific day - they couldn't even give us a price!!! One month later we receive our deposits back minus ~$600 per person because of "things that were wrong with the apartment" plus "cleaning fees" even though the things that were wrong were already there and the place was, again, spotless. Look, the apartment is nice, and the appliances are new which is good, but it's not worth it for the price. Trust me. Oh, I forgot to mention, there's a fraternity that blasts loud music weekdays and weekends directly behind Elloras Apartments, (literally 2 feet away building to building), so sleeping might be hard too. But I'm guessing management didn't tell you that right? Worst management EVER. Do not rent here! ORIGINAL: Just went through the application process of this place. So far the management has been excellent and prompt. It seems like a really great place and is super close to campus, (13 minute walk via google maps)! Will update this post when my lease ends!

Editing this review after living here one semester. Some complaints include that they rented me out the handicapped parking space. After reading other reviews it sounds like they have done this in the past as well. I paid to have a secure place to park and that was not what I got. I emailed them as soon as I saw they gave me the handicapped spot and asked for another spot, which they declined. After receiving two tickets back to back I had to waste my time going down town to take care of them. Luckily the judge had a heart and didn't make me pay the $950+. When brought up to management all they could say was sorry and then implied that I should lie in court and tell the judge "I was just in a hurry" or "just visiting a friend for 10 min" etc. Management did give me a new spot after that... which they should have given to me the first time I asked. I asked them to waive the parking fee for the next month, (seeing as the previous months parking money was obviously a waste) which they declined. Separate from that is they took a large chunk of my security deposit. The place was a shoebox and I don't see how I could have done $600 worth of damage in one semester. Some charges were justified, but others like $25 to clean a ceiling fan were not.

They've recently tried rebranding as "West Campus Apartments" instead of Elloras but I doubt they've actually overhauled anything in regards to quality of management or the units. I lived there for 2 years (financial constraints) but in retrospect, I would have rather paid $200/month more than the rent I did pay for more peace of mind. It was overall a very frustrating experience. Pros: - Solid Location (21st and Pearl) - Cheap - Gave me a 10 month lease for my senior year Cons: - Management is really creepy and not looking out for your best interest. My girlfriend spent the night at my place 80% of the time and they knew about it. Right before my lease ended, they sent me a document with a timestamp of every time entered and exited the building (even at like 2 AM) along with pictures for a whole semester; this was by far one of the most violating things for my girlfriend and I knowing that they stalked us. They also slapped me with a very, very large fine which I couldn't afford at the time. They could've told me much earlier in the semester about it and fine me then but they really went the extra mile in trying to suck the most money out of me lol. Yes, most places have clauses on their lease that you can't house other people but she was literally there at nights to sleep. No cooking. No using resources (aside from space). Beyond that, you'll never even know the identity of management (they lie about their names and have even changed their fake aliases) - You won't get your security deposit back. They charge large amounts for pretty much everything and send you fake pictures. - Rooms are really dark and dingy. - Management will threaten legal action for pretty much anything. They prey on the fact that you're a college student and don't have the time or resources to fight some of their stupid accusations. - Although the rent is cheap, they have tons of tiny fees they add to everything.

Do not listen to all of these 5 star reviews, they are obviously fake accounts made by management to dupe you into leasing with them. Seriously when was the last time you saw such a drastic difference in so many people's opinions? In reality, this place is cramped, and dark. The elevator is slow if it is even working at all. Every other week there was this loud beeping noise in the hall that went off every 7 seconds or so and would not stop for 2-3 days. The garage is impossible to navigate and many times, the landlord's van will be in the way. The landlord, Jack, is the most inconsiderate human being on the face of the Earth. Once he literally walked into my room and woke me up to check the water meter in my closet (he does this every month). He does all of the maintenance and cleaning himself. When Time Warner Cable upgraded their service to digital and required a new device to get the same channels, he lied to us and said that we would have to sign a contract with them ourselves to receive the device. Also, do not expect your security deposit back either. He charged us over $1000 for completely fabricated damages. This place is hardly bearable without the garbage landlord. You can easily find a much better place for cheaper. STAY AWAY FROM ELLORAS!
