My experience living at Westmar Student Lofts was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this property to other students. Westmar promotes itself as a community where resident safety is a top priority, but my experience reflected the complete opposite. My car was vandalized while parked on the fourth floor of the parking garage in a well-lit area with security cameras. The back window was broken, despite the property advertising hourly security patrols. What was most frustrating was that I was never notified about the incident. I discovered the damage myself minutes before leaving for class. After reporting it to security, I received a call from the leasing office nearly an hour later informing me that my car had been vandalized—as if I had not already reported the issue. Hoping to avoid another incident, I moved my car to the third floor of the garage, where many students park. Unfortunately, my car was later stolen from the same parking garage. When detectives became involved, obtaining access to security footage was far more difficult than it should have been. I also sent multiple emails to the leasing office and received little to no response. The lack of communication, urgency, and support during such serious situations was unacceptable. Beyond the security concerns, there were several ongoing issues that negatively affected my experience. The shuttle service from Westmar to campus was generally reliable. However, returning to Westmar from campus was often frustrating because you never knew when the shuttle would arrive. Residents could end up waiting for extended periods of time, making transportation stressful and unpredictable. Maintenance support was also limited, with no on-call staff available after hours. If you experienced a leak, flooding, or another urgent issue outside of business hours, you had to wait until the next business day for assistance after submitting a work order. In addition, trash was often left around the property, the pool was frequently closed, and parking enforcement felt excessive, with residents receiving boots for minor issues. As college students, we pay a significant amount to live here and deserve a safe, clean, and well-managed environment. This was my first apartment experience, and unfortunately, I never felt comfortable enough to call Westmar home.

I am preparing to move out after living at Westmar for a year. In my experience the staff and security are kind, patient and mostly helpful. The rent is affordable and I feel safe sleeping and living here. That being said, there are many issues I have experienced. Many have been fixed and some have not. Roach infestation, exposed wiring, barely functioning appliances, dirty furniture and difficult parking rules were my main issues. For the roaches, I was told to apply caulk to the seems of every wall in my apt and use my own bug traps. This combined with the apartments own pest services did indeed reduce the amount of roaches over about 6 months but it was very inconvenient. I specifically filled a form stating that I was allergic to cats and they still allowed me to move in with dirty couches that had roaches and cat hair in them. Maintenance kindly replaced the dirty couches. Appliances like fire alarms, the sinks and leaking water heater/air conditioning were all repaired by maintenance soon after. Guest parking rules are very limited. With all of that being said, if you are willing to work with maintenance and treat your own roach issues, the apartment was very serviceable for my needs.

If I could give this apartment a 0, I would. I moved into a unit with broken cabinets, bugs, and maintenance issues from day one. The tour only showed the model unit, not the actual conditions of the apartments people are assigned to. The hallways were constantly dirty, there were gnats, water would flood the apartment, and even though I called maintenance repeatedly, nothing was ever truly fixed. I also had issues with my roommates, and it felt like they paired people together without any concern for compatibility. I reached out to management multiple times asking for help and even requested a different unit, but my concerns were dismissed. I only lasted one month because the living conditions were unacceptable. If you’re choosing between Westmar and another apartment, save yourself the stress and choose somewhere else.

The young lady Alexus she was very, very amazing and very helpful. Any questions we had. She answered them with impeccable accuracy. She was amazing. She deserves a raise, not saying it just to be saying that I’m saying it because of the experiences are going to different sites of apartment complexes she was the most inviting she was the most aware of her job in her job title and she did an amazing job on the tour showing us around and answering any questions that she was absolutely amazing and My overall experience for the West Mars or a 1000 out of 1000 she the ball right out of the park amazing young lady

I had a terrible experience at Westmar Student Lofts that honestly showed me how little they care about residents. I had just gotten off work and couldn’t even get into my room because my key fob was dead. After a long day, I couldn’t shower, couldn’t rest, and literally had nowhere to go. When I reached out for help, staff told me “if they come they come, if not you’ll have to figure it out,” which is completely unacceptable. What’s even worse is that they claim to have 24 hour maintenance, yet I couldn’t get any assistance when I actually needed it. On top of that, they attempted to charge me a lockout fee for something that wasn’t even my fault. Why am I paying rent just to be locked out of my own room? Especially being college students, it feels like Westmar preys on students. To avoid further issues, security should have more information on what to do in these situations or be able to easily replace the battery since they have access to our rooms. After speaking with security, I also learned that I am not the only person this has happened to, and others have been locked out until the next day as well. I have a lot of complaints about these apartments, but this was the last straw. Situations like this make it clear that Westmar only cares about money, not the people living there.
