The Lodge at Allendale, allendale-mi

Walkable to GVSU. Close bus stop. Small rec center but has decent amount of dumbbells and a cable machine. Mostly treadmills along with two Pelotons. The pool is nice. Compared to other apartments, the maintenance/response team is incredibly lacking. Days go by of ignored tickets with no communication. More than once we were told someone would be coming to fix the problem and the problem persisted for the entire 12 month lease. The marketed access gate for vehicles was disabled for a majority of the 12 months. Overall, a disappointing experience. Seems flashy and glamorous but is not worth the money. Current apartment has really a good maintenence team that fixed our AC in an evening. I can't imagine how this would go at the Lodge.

I absolutely love The Lodge! The amenities here are top-notch and truly make it feel like a home away from home. From the well-maintained facilities to all the clubhouse activities, everything is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. What stands out the most is how safe and secure the property is, which gives me such peace of mind. The staff members are incredible—always friendly, professional, and ready to assist with anything I need. Their warmth and attentiveness really make this place great. I highly recommend The Lodge to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay! :)

Pet waste, entitled and childish neighbors, I was also brushed off by management a few times on concerns. Who wants to deal with housing issues after working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week?? But Maintenance? They are awesome They replied saying they would take action and nothing was done, just like the last 3 times I complained. Like I said don’t sign here. Keep your peace!

This is my first year living at the lodge and it is honestly pretty great! Whenever we need anything the lodge staff are pretty quick to help us out. It can get pretty loud sometimes because it is a college community, but you would find that anywhere near campus.

The Lodge at Allendale is a pretty good place to live, as long as you can put up with others late night shenanigans. I have no issues with the property itself. The rooms are more modern than some of the other off campus living areas, but seem to be a bit smaller. The property amenities are very nice; the pool and clubhouse is always clean, the coffee machine, when working, is useful during late night crams, and the gym while small has everything you need. The only issue with the property is usually the other tenants. Many leave large amounts of trash around, usually dog poo. Sometimes in winter it will stack up outside and thaw and the entire property will smell of dog poo, but that’s more irresponsible owners than the Lodge’s fault. The walls are pretty thin, so if someone decides to blast music in their car or room you’ll hear everything. Many of the tenants don’t seem to care at all and are very ignorant towards others. I’ve never felt that I or my property is unsafe while living here, I appreciate the amenities, the staff is very friendly and helpful, I only wish others living here would be more respectful. It’s also kinda expensive but I think the amenities kind of balance it out a little.
