Campus West Allendale, allendale-mi

I would never recommend this apartment to anyone. Me and my roommate had the worst possible experience living here starting from move in up until move out. When we arrived the shower was broken and the first thing we had to do was put in a maintenance request before even moving our stuff in. Along with that it was disgusting and we had to clean out the previous tenants dried food in the sink and hair in the bathroom. After that we found that things like closet doors, kitchen appliances, our toilet, and shower were consistently broken and we had to request these things to be fixed various times throughout the nine months we lived here. Towards the end of our stay the toilet would leak across the bathroom floor constantly and we never received an answer from maintenance on how to fix this besides just jiggling the toilet handle. To add to all of this we received so many absurd charges from this place and between all of my friends I somehow had the most expensive apartment with the worst amenities and the most disgusting environment. There are no redeeming qualities about this apartment and I found myself counting down the days until I could move into my new place. I would have moved out the first month living here if I could, I have never been more miserable living somewhere in my life. Living in a dorm was a better experience than this apartment and after living at Campus West I can confidently say they will do anything to get as much money as possible from you while simultaneously creating the most abysmal environment for their residents. The only good thing I can think to say about this vile place is that the leasing office workers are very nice and they were most of the time very helpful when we went to them with questions. The maintenance men were also very nice and we got to know them well considering how many times they had to come to our unit. I cannot emphasize enough that you should never consider living here unless you hate yourself and want to have a terrible experience.

Do not even look at them!! Very SCUMMY All of my roommates moved in accordingly and notably NO ONE BROUGHT A CAT. Remember this. When we moved in we took pictures of GLARING damage. Everything was smooth up until move out. First no damage occurred in the time of our occupancy and no one was unruly. So we thought our security deposit would get returned HOWEVER ONLY $17.00 got returned, why? A couple cleaning costs, okay we agree but that was only combined for $50. THEY PROCEEDED TO CHARGE US for a couch that needed REPLACING… Spoiler… the couch was not broken but had HARD TO SEE CAT SCRATCHES ON IT. We were CHARGED for a PREVIOUS tenant’s damage. TRIED to dispute it but they claimed since we didn’t document the damage there is nothing they can do. WE NEVER MOVED IN WITH A CAT. WHY WOULD WE SCRATCH UP THE COUCH LIKE A CAT? No common sense, and if you didn’t document the smallest of things YOU WILL get charges.

I have lived in over 5 different apartment complexes and Campus West is by far the best complex I have ever lived in. The units are very livable and more than what you need for student housing. Very close to GVSU campus and very involved in GVSU campus life which is very cool! The leasing office staff are also some of the nicest people I have ever met! They go above and beyond to make sure your needs are met and that you’re enjoying your time living at campus west! I even got a happy birthday email! While everything isn’t perfect(nothing ever is anywhere you live), the low rent and nice people make it all worth it! I would 100% recommend living at campus west!!

Rented for 3 years here. Staff is friendly and apartments are as good as you can expect for near-campus housing. A couple cosmetic chips in paint or whatnot, but maintenance is prompt in handling any larger concerns. Bus to campus is very convenient, last stop before campus for one route and first stop out for the other. All my complaints would be focused at Spectrum as the choice in internet provider.

Best apartment for college students! Leasing staff is very nice and accommodating! Shout out to Alan, Christiana, Alex, Ava, Dan, Justin, and Matt for creating a positive and welcoming environment!
