The Royal Academy of Music, established in London in 1822, stands as the UK's oldest conservatoire and enjoys a global reputation as a leading institution for musical education. Founded by Lord Burghersh with the support of Nicolas Bochsa, it received its Royal Charter in 1830 under King George IV. RAM does not have its own large residence hall like 'Marylebone Hall' (which belongs to the University of Westminster).
However, as a constituent college of the University of London, RAM students are eligible to apply for places in the University of London Intercollegiate Halls. RAM receives a specific allocation each year (in halls like Nutford House, College Hall, The Garden Halls - subject to change). These halls are located across central London (many in nearby Bloomsbury) and offer a traditional student community feel, often including catering options. Places are limited and allocated based on RAM's priority criteria (often favouring first-year and international students). Applications are usually made through RAM's accommodation office.   

Private Rented Accommodation (Shared Flats/Houses):
Marylebone / Regent's Park / Fitzrovia: Extremely convenient (walkable distance) but are very expensive areas for private renting.
Nearby Commutable Areas: Students often find shared flats/houses in areas offering a balance between cost and commute time via Tube or bus:
Camden Town / Kentish Town (North): Popular student areas with vibrant social scenes and good transport links (Northern Line).   
Kilburn / Maida Vale (North-West): Accessible via the Bakerloo or Jubilee lines from Baker Street.   
Bloomsbury / King's Cross (East): Close to UoL facilities, excellent transport links.
Areas further out along Tube lines (e.g., Northern, Bakerloo, Jubilee, Metropolitan) can offer more affordable rents but require longer commutes.
Private Student Halls (PBSA): Many private providers offer student accommodation across London, typically studios or en-suite rooms with shared kitchens and various amenities.

RAM's location in Marylebone places students close to numerous cultural attractions, parks, and vibrant areas.   Royal Academy of Music Museum: Located within the Academy itself, featuring fascinating collections of musical instruments (including Stradivarius violins), manuscripts, and artefacts related to music history and Academy alumni (free entry).   

Regent's Park: Directly opposite the Academy, this large Royal Park offers beautiful gardens (Queen Mary's Rose Garden), boating on the lake, vast lawns, London Zoo, and the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre (seasonal). Primrose Hill, offering famous city views, is at the northern end.

Marylebone Village: Explore the charming Marylebone High Street with its independent boutiques, cafes (like Daunt Books), and restaurants. A farmers' market often takes place on Sundays.
