The London School of Theology began as the London Bible College in 1943. It initially operated from Marylebone and welcomed its first full-time students in 1946. The college moved to its Green Lane campus in Northwood in 1970 and adopted its current name in 2004.

Northwood

Northwood removes most of the uncertainty from the journey. The campus, Underground station, supermarkets, cafés and local services all fall within the same suburban district.

A room here can work especially well for students with several teaching days, early chapel commitments or placement work nearby. Private houses and rooms appear more frequently than large student residences, so contracts may exclude bills or require a deposit and guarantor.

Northwood station falls in Zone 6. Central London remains accessible, but a regular Zone 1 journey adds more than £200 a month when you use a discounted monthly Travelcard.

Pinner

Pinner neighbours Northwood and keeps the campus within a manageable local journey. Its high street has independent shops, cafés and everyday services, while the Metropolitan line connects the area with Northwood and central London.

The area suits students who want residential surroundings but cannot find the right room beside campus. Check the route from the property carefully. A Pinner address can cover a large area, and some homes lie much farther from the station than the listing suggests.

Ruislip

Ruislip gives students access to shops, leisure facilities and green space while keeping Northwood reasonably close by bus or car. The 331 connects parts of Ruislip with the LST campus.

Harrow

Wembley

Watford

A Watford room can work for a student with work, family or church commitments north of London. It makes less sense when most free time takes place in central London, as every trip then starts farther out.

Northwood usually gives students a quieter daily routine than inner London, but it does not automatically make the year cheap. Local rent can remain high, and regular journeys into central London add a sizeable transport cost.

The original guide estimated £110 to £160 per week outside rent. It allowed £30 to £45 for groceries, £5 to £6 for a mobile plan and £8 to £18 for a casual meal. Those figures still work as an early planning range, but frequent central London travel can push spending above it.

Grand Felda House

Grand Felda House currently advertises rooms from £246 per week, with utilities included. The building offers private rooms and studios, and the provider lists several tenancy lengths.

A £246 room over 51 weeks costs £12,546. Check whether a shorter contract exists before accepting the lowest weekly rate. Ask about the exact room floor, kitchen size and the latest resident comments on maintenance and shared facilities.

Felda House

Affordable does not always mean close. The original property list included AXO Waterloo, Chelsea Lightfoot Hall, Townhall Camberwell, The Cube Ealing, Romano Court, Creek Court and Surrey Quays Landale House. Several require a long cross-London journey to Northwood, so the rent saving needs a careful comparison with travel cost and time.

Current Lower-Priced Examples

Chelsea Lightfoot Hall shows why the room description matters. Its starting price of around £228 per week relates to shared occupancy. Over 51 weeks, the tenancy costs £11,628. A private room elsewhere can cost more each week but provide far more personal space.

The Cube Ealing currently begins at approximately £235 per week. The price looks competitive, but Ealing lies away from the direct Wembley-to-Northwood corridor. Test the weekday route before treating it as a genuine saving.
