Do not combine UWTSD with the University of South Wales. If a listing uses university of south wales trinity saint david accommodation, check the institution and campus before paying anything. The University of South Wales and University of Wales Trinity Saint David operate as separate universities.

Every UWTSD student automatically becomes a member of Trinity Saint David Students’ Union. The Union represents students, offers independent advice and supports clubs, societies and events at different campus locations.

Carmarthen and Lampeter have Students’ Union venues directly on campus. Their smaller settings keep university events and accommodation close together.

Swansea gives students city-centre restaurants, nightlife, shopping and a waterfront close to university teaching. The SA1 campus also places the marina and beach within the regular week.

London offers a completely different routine. Canary Wharf gives access to shops and restaurants near lectures, followed by quick transport towards Greenwich, Stratford, Shoreditch and central London.

The city should not decide the room before the course location does. Someone studying in Swansea gains nothing from comparing a Lampeter hall, and a London student should ignore any private listing that still measures distance from UWTSD’s former Kennington campus.

Swansea operates differently from a traditional single-campus university. UWTSD uses several buildings throughout the city, including the SA1 Waterfront Campus and Innovation Quarter, Swansea Business Campus and Swansea College of Art buildings around Alexandra Road and Dynevor.

The SA1 Waterfront Campus includes the IQ building and Y Fforwm library beside Swansea Marina and the River Tawe. Engineering, computing, construction, education and other programmes use this part of the university. Swansea Business Campus occupies the High Street area, while art students attend buildings closer to the city centre.

That spread makes University of Wales Trinity Saint David Swansea student accommodation a campus-specific decision. Someone attending SA1 every day will gain more from the marina side of the city than a student whose lectures take place around Alexandra Road.

SA1 and the Marina

The SA1 district gives Waterfront Campus students their shortest academic route.

Crown Place occupies the waterfront, and UWTSD currently recommends it for Swansea students. The university highlights its studios and cluster en-suites, with bills and Wi-Fi included. The property also offers communal study areas and other shared facilities.

The marina brings cafés, restaurants and waterfront paths into the neighbourhood. Swansea city centre remains close enough for regular shopping without requiring a separate residential move into the centre.

A room beside SA1 works particularly well for engineering and technology courses based in the IQ. Art students may prefer the city-centre side because their daily destination lies elsewhere.

Swansea City Centre

Swansea city centre provides the largest selection of managed private rooms.

SEREN currently advertises private rooms from £109 per week under 40-, 44- and 51-week agreements. St Davids also starts from £109, while The Oldway Centre begins at around £113. Household bills form part of the displayed rents.

The city centre helps students who attend Swansea Business Campus or the art buildings. It also places Swansea railway station, supermarkets, cafés and nightlife near home.

A 51-week room at £109 costs £5,559 before any optional charges. The same weekly figure over 44 weeks costs £4,796. Always use the contract attached to the specific room.

St Davids

St Davids occupies New Cut Road and currently lists private en-suite rooms and studios from £109 per week. Contract choices extend from short stays to 40-, 44-, 51- and 71-week options.

An en-suite classic currently starts around £109, while a Bronze En-suite begins at £113. The rent covers gas, heating, water and Wi-Fi, and the building includes security, laundry, study rooms and a cinema room.

The location helps students who need both central Swansea and SA1. Check the final walk to the building used by your course before choosing the room category.

Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant rises above Swansea city centre and contains a large stock of private houses and flats.

The area can reduce monthly rent when several students share a property. Swansea railway station and the city centre remain nearby, although the uphill walk becomes noticeable after lectures or grocery shopping.

Traditional houses require more checking than purpose-built halls. Look at heating, damp, windows, bathroom ventilation and the number of kitchen cupboards before signing.

Brynmill and Uplands

Brynmill and Uplands have long-established student housing markets.

They lie closer to Swansea University’s Singleton Campus than most UWTSD buildings, so UWTSD students should not assume the location gives them the shortest route. A low house rent may still work for a group that values Uplands and accepts a bus or bicycle journey to SA1.

Recent Swansea private-house adverts show rooms around £425 to £500 per month including bills in some shared properties. Those listings represent individual landlords rather than a fixed city rate, so treat them as examples and compare the exact contract.

UWTSD does not publish one price table covering every campus because the housing model changes between locations.

The London difference becomes substantial over a full tenancy. A £245 room over 51 weeks costs £12,495. A £319 room reaches £16,269. Carmarthen’s £107 university room costs £4,066 over the complete 38-week contract.

Standard En-suite

Carmarthen gives every hall resident a private bathroom.

The £107 standard room includes a single bed, while the £139.10 New Style category provides a four-foot bed. Nine residents share the kitchen.

This category gives Carmarthen students a level of privacy that often costs much more in Swansea or London.

Private En-suite in a Managed Hall

Swansea properties such as SEREN and St Davids provide bedrooms with private bathrooms and shared kitchens.

These rooms currently begin around £109 per week, although longer 44- or 51-week contracts increase the final cost.

Studio

A studio includes a private bathroom and cooking area.

Studios appear widely in Swansea and London. London rates often begin above £300, while Swansea studios can cost far less.

Check the kitchen equipment. Some compact units provide a hob and microwave without a full oven.

Private Room in a Shared House

Private housing forms an important part of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David student houses market, particularly in Swansea and around the Welsh campuses.

Residents normally receive their own bedroom and share bathrooms, kitchen and lounge. Some landlords include utilities; others charge rent only.

Check the joint-liability clause before a group signs. One housemate leaving early can affect everyone when the agreement makes each tenant responsible for the full property rent.

Family Accommodation

Carmarthen applicants who need family housing should speak directly with the accommodation team about suitable options.

London and Swansea students normally need the private rental market when they require a complete flat for a partner or children.

Carmarthen

The £107 standard en-suite provides the clearest low-cost university option. Its £4,066 annual charge includes the 38-week room contract and places teaching within a short walk.

Swansea

SEREN and St Davids currently start from £109 per week. Their longer private contracts make the annual cost higher than Carmarthen’s university room.

Lampeter

Ask UWTSD for the current campus-room price before comparing it with a local house. On-campus living may remove transport completely.

London

Creek Court currently gives one of the lower managed private entry prices in the relevant East and South-East London comparison at £245 per week. A house-share can cost less, but bills and landlord terms need separate checking.

Walking

Swansea Business Campus, Alexandra Road, Dynevor and central private halls occupy a compact part of the city.

SA1 lies closer to the marina. Many central residents can walk there, though the time depends on the exact property.

Bus Travel

Local buses connect SA1, central Swansea and outer residential areas.

Students in Brynmill or Uplands need bus or bicycle access more often than residents in Crown Place or St Davids.

Rail

Swansea railway station stands close to several private halls and Swansea Business Campus.

The location helps students who travel regularly towards Cardiff, Carmarthen or other parts of South Wales.
