The Oldway Centre, swansea

I’ve been in Oldway for 3 years now and I have to say that they are very accommodating and have an amazing staff. They have the essential facilities such as study area, games room and a decent size gym. The room size big enough and the prices are very reasonable with very discounts when you reapply.On top of that they are positioned neared everything such as the train station, town centre and Parc Tawe. Hundred recommend if your looking for a private accommodation.

This has been the worst experience of my life. I was an international student, I resided at Oldway during my first year at uni. The nine months I spent there were literal hell. My flatmates were horribly disrespectful, I’m talking playing soccer in the corridor every single night, screaming every night and trashing out the SHARED area to a point where it was beyond unsanitary. I could not use the fridge nor the kitchen genuinely fearing I would get sick. They were bullying me and physically threatening me every time I went down to complain. I reported the issue multiple times, nothing was ever done, all I was told was “we know they aren’t good people but we can’t do anything”. It has now been two years and I am only now realising how endangering all of it was, especially the inaction of the “adults”. After months of bargaining they offered to move me to a smaller room then what I was paying for a few weeks before the end of my lease (I was the one who had to move out which is still insane to me) . which allowed me to push through and barely pass my exams. I was alone, in a foreign country, freshly 18. It completely destroyed my mental health to the point I had to go back home and drop out, I lost thousands of pounds, with no monetary compensation from Oldway (even though I could not use the shared amenities and was moved to a smaller room after weeks of begging them to do something) and I am now still recovering. Please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else (the pictures are screenshots from a video I sent to the reception)

While the accommodation is in a nice location, prospective students should be extremely cautious. There have been serious concerns about staff behaviour including reports of discrimination and mistreatment towards students and other staff. I would strongly recommend thoroughly researching the environment and being very mindful before signing any contract this year.

i have lived oldway for two academic university Years now,i would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to live that doesnt want a shared house, there is the opportunity for friends to book rooms in the same flat, or have a studio, the room and ammendities on site quality you get for the price you pay is amazing. The rooms are great quality and the staff are quick to respond to any maintenance issues. Theyre communicative and really social with the residents. The location is perfect situating a roughly ten minute walk to the clubs for nights out and to the town for food and shops, a 2 minute walk to the train Station and a small tesco, and a bus stop to travel campus right behind the accomodation, with the route getting you campus within 20-30 minutes, the gym facilities are of great quality too, and dont Tend to get overcrowded though early morning is better, but it saves Not having to buy a membership elsewhere and is open 24/7. I would highly recommend this as a place to live, and they have rebooking offers, saved £900 by rebooking the same room i was in last year and That Greatly helped me and my parents pay what my loan cover, ive loved living here and would 100% recommend it to everyone Going into second, third year or masters

After living here for 3 years, I’ve seen more than enough to give an honest review. Yes, the location is great right by the train station with easy access to the city centre but that’s where the positives end. Living here has been consistently unpleasant due to poor management and unprofessional behaviour. The general manager openly talks negatively about residents and past residents behind their backs, which creates a toxic and uncomfortable environment. If you raise legitimate concerns — especially to management you’re treated like a problem rather than someone asking for basic standards. Since speaking up, I’ve been ignored and treated like a problem and threat to their reputation . A major example: water was unavailable for an extended period on floors 10–12. This wasn’t handled properly, and residents were left dealing with it far longer than acceptable. For the price you pay (which is already too high), basic services like water should not be an issue avoid these floors and Oldway center entirely As someone with mental health challenges, the lack of respect and empathy from management has made things even worse. Instead of support or understanding, I’ve experienced two-faced behaviour and disrespect. There’s also a clear pattern of manipulating reviews. When the Global Student Living Index (GSLI) comes around, management suddenly becomes overly friendly, offering incentives like free laundry or rewards at events in exchange for 5-star reviews. If they think you’ll leave anything less, they discourage you from submitting feedback altogether. That’s not transparency It’s reputation management at the expense of honesty. To make things worse, a hate symbol remained in the courtyard for over 2 months. Despite being reported, nothing was done until I escalated it through a formal complaint. That should have been addressed immediately not ignored until I sent the formal complaint nothing was done. Overall, this place looks good on the surface, but the reality is very different. Poor management, lack of accountability, and disregard for residents make it somewhere I strongly advise avoiding. Do not book Oldway Centre. You can do much better elsewhere.
