Socially, the energy is unmatched. We are talking about extensive communal facilities, including a stylish social hub that puts your student union to shame. For those deep-focus moments, the dedicated quiet study areas provide the perfect environment to secure that first-class degree. When you need to switch off, the communal lounge and games area are the ultimate spots for gaming marathons with your tribe. The social calendar is actually good, too—none of that cringe icebreaker energy, just genuine opportunities to link up with your squad.

I have enjoyed my time here living for two years. As a student in nursing degree, this accomodation was personally great for myself because it has great connectivity for the buses going to the university campus and the placement hospitals. I also love that the location right in the centre of a busy area, lined with all sorts of grocery shops, superstores, hang-out places like cafés and restaurants, cinemas and more. The facilities on in the accommodation and the number of students per flat (5) are also reasonable. Shout-out to the entire student roosts team for being so helpful, kind and friendly. They've always been hard working and welcoming, which definitely has made a huge difference to my stay here!!!!!! THANK YOU STUDENT ROOST :)

I lived in this residence during both my undergraduate degree and my master’s. Unfortunately, my experience changed significantly over time. During my undergraduate years, everything went well. The staff were kind, I was allowed to keep my belongings over the summer when rebooking the same room, and at the time it was the closest residence to campus. I even recommended it to other students. However, my master’s experience was very different. Even though I had a confirmed booking and was returning the following year, I was required to pack up and leave my room for an entire month. The rooms were extremely warm, and several services seemed reduced compared to previous years. The biggest issue was the lift. It was broken from February to May. I lived on the 4th floor, which made everyday life exhausting. I was offered a room on a lower floor, but I had to organise and manage the move myself during exam season, which added unnecessary stress. To be fair, the maintenance staff were always very kind and polite whenever I spoke to them, and they did their best to help. However, the wider structural and management issues were not resolved for months. Other issues included: The gym is very small. At night, the nearby train station can be noisy, and people in the area can also be loud, particularly in the backyard. Fire alarms go off quite frequently. When I arrived, the shared kitchen was dirty and had visible mould.I was eventually moved to another room, but it wasn’t a significant improvement. There are very few social events organised. In the past there used to be more, but now they are quite limited and often repetitive. Another serious concern was the guarantor policy. Although the residence advertises that international guarantors are accepted, I was required to pay the full amount upfront. My parents were not accepted as guarantors, even though this had not been a problem in the past, while other residents were allowed to use theirs. The lack of consistency was frustrating. This is the oldest residence in Swansea, and unfortunately it shows. There are now many newer and better-maintained accommodation options available. Based on my experience, I would recommend that future students carefully consider alternative accommodation options.

Great accommodation with excellent support from the team. Any accommodation-related help was provided quickly, and all my queries were answered immediately. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made my stay very comfortable. Highly recommended!

I’m reporting a troubling experience with this accommodation that fell far short of reasonable expectations and basic hospitality standards. - Oven broken and not fixed: I was told to rely on a microwave for two days, which is unacceptable for any stay—especially longer visits. - Freezer issues: No drawers or broken ones, and I was given just one replacement drawer. Storage was clearly insufficient and poorly managed. - Movie Mondays promise unfulfilled: We visited three weeks in a row with no film shown. When we asked, staff said they were still selecting a film, and the next day the event sign disappeared. False promises and lack of follow-through. - Delayed bus passes: We were told we’d receive free bus passes for the academic year, but they arrived three months late, causing me to miss three months of free travel. They also did not advise well how it was only given to people with a long tenancy agreement eg. 44+ weeks. - Rude reception staff: The front desk team were consistently rude or seemed fed up when answering questions. It’s understandable to have off days, but the continual attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful. - Kitchen issue due to flatmate- upon returning from Christmas break with a mouldy, fly-ridden kitchen. I couldn’t even eat in the kitchen for a week. When I reported it, I was told there would be an inspection and was informed they would pull that flatmate aside and have a conversation. When the inspection was made we were all told off instead with no real solution. In the end, I was pressured to clean the kitchen within 48 hours to avoid a fine, even though the mess was not mine. This was disrespectful and unfair. There was no professional conduct during this time and i was deeply disappointed. - Overall impression: The place is the cheapest option, but the negative experiences far outweigh any savings. I regret not researching more beforehand. The accommodation failed to provide basic amenities, reliable services, and respectful staff. Final verdict: This stay was disappointing on every level, from maintenance to management and customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this property to others.

As a student, I would genuinely rather be homeless than live in Student Roost again. They have completely failed to maintain even the basic standards they advertise. When I first arrived, the kitchen was in a disastrous condition — so dirty and untidy that I couldn’t use it at all. Hot water is only available occasionally, so you constantly have to check whether you can even take a shower. The elevator has stopped working twice within just a month and a half. The Wi-Fi — probably the most important service for any student — is currently not working either. And while I’m writing this review, the fire alarm has been ringing continuously for the past 30 minutes, with no action being taken. Overall, this has been an extremely stressful and disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this accommodation to any student.
