Student Accommodation near Grafton College Of Management Sciences

Grafton College of Management Sciences began in Dublin in 2003 and opened its London operation in March 2004. The London college taught business, management, computing, accounting, finance, tourism and English-language programmes from its former Oxford Street address.

The organisation operated as a private college, not as a public university with a permanent campus and university-owned halls. Students arranged rooms through London’s private rental market or independent student residences.

Quality concerns appeared before the college closed. A 2015 Quality Assurance Agency review raised concerns about student progression and course completion. Ofqual later confirmed that it had opened an investigation into allegations connected with the college and an awarding organisation following the 2017 Panorama programme.

Companies House records Grafton College Limited under company number 04885903 and gives 12 March 2019 as its dissolution date. This record supports the closed status noted in the supplied material.

Grafton College Of Management Sciences Accommodation

The organisation operated as a private college, not as a public university with a permanent campus and university-owned halls. Students arranged rooms through London’s private rental market or independent student residences.

Grafton College no longer has an active student community, Students’ Union or campus programme.

The former Oxford Street location still places current London students near a large cultural and academic district.

Libraries And Study Spaces

Students at active institutions should use their own university libraries first. Many universities also provide access to additional University of London facilities, specialist collections or partner libraries.

Public study options include Westminster libraries and several independent workspaces around Soho, Fitzrovia and Marylebone.

A managed residence with a study room can help during examination periods, particularly when the bedroom has limited desk space.

Museums And Galleries

The British Museum lies within walking distance of parts of Oxford Street and Bloomsbury. The National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Wallace Collection and Royal Academy also remain accessible from the West End.

Many permanent collections offer free entry.

These spaces can provide useful academic context for students studying art, history, design, media, tourism or cultural management at active institutions.

Parks And Outdoor Space

Hyde Park and Regent’s Park give central London students room to walk, exercise or spend time away from crowded streets.

Smaller gardens around Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia also provide quieter breaks between classes.

A property with no communal outdoor space may feel less restrictive when a park remains nearby.

Food And Shopping

Oxford Street focuses heavily on major retailers. Soho, Chinatown, Fitzrovia and Marylebone add independent cafés, restaurants and smaller shops.

Food prices change sharply from one street to another. Students can reduce spending through supermarket meal deals, packed lunches and markets away from the main visitor routes.

Evening Activity

The West End has theatres, cinemas, music venues, pubs and restaurants.

A student living nearby gains a short route home, though the bedroom may receive more noise. Anyone considering Soho or the streets immediately off Oxford Street should visit after 9 pm before signing.

A property farther away can create a quieter home and lower rent while keeping central London accessible by Tube.

Fitzrovia

Fitzrovia begins north of Oxford Street and extends towards Euston Road.

A home around Goodge Street, Great Portland Street or Warren Street can keep Oxford Street within walking distance. The area also serves students at UCL, University of Westminster, Birkbeck, SOAS and several specialist colleges.

Private flats dominate much of the local market. Managed student buildings appear around Bloomsbury, King’s Cross and Euston instead of directly on every Fitzrovia street.

Rent usually reflects the Zone 1 address. A short academic journey can save travel time, but it may not justify several thousand pounds in extra annual rent.

Check the bedroom’s position before booking. Tottenham Court Road, Euston Road and Oxford Street carry more traffic and evening noise than the smaller streets around Fitzroy Square.

Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury has a large academic population due to UCL, SOAS, Birkbeck, the University of London and several medical institutions.

The neighbourhood keeps the British Museum, Senate House and major libraries nearby. Tottenham Court Road, Russell Square, Euston Square and Goodge Street serve different parts of the district.

Bloomsbury Janet Poole House currently appears from £376 per week for shared rooms, private rooms and studios. Scape Bloomsbury has also displayed entry categories from around £325, although live availability determines the room attached to that price.

A Bloomsbury address suits students whose present institution uses central London teaching buildings. It provides no special advantage connected with the closed Grafton College.

Soho

Soho lies immediately south of the former Oxford Street premises.

The area keeps restaurants, theatres, music venues and the West End close to home. Private student buildings remain limited, while conventional flats command high rents.

A room here can create noise from deliveries, restaurants and late-night venues. Visit the street during the evening before signing.

Soho makes more sense for a student with a substantial housing budget and a current campus nearby. Outer Zone 1 or Zone 2 districts often give better room sizes for the same annual payment.

Marylebone

Marylebone lies west of Oxford Circus and north of Marble Arch.

The district serves students at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus, Regent’s University London and several healthcare or professional colleges. Baker Street adds Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee and Metropolitan line connections.

Private rooms in Marylebone usually cost more than options in King’s Cross, Old Street or outer north London. A student who only attends central teaching on two or three days each week may save considerably by taking a direct Underground route.

The residential streets north of Marylebone Road feel calmer than Oxford Street. The rent still needs comparison with the complete journey and contract length.

King’s Cross

King’s Cross gives students a large accommodation market and access to six Underground lines, national rail and Eurostar.

Chapter King’s Cross occupies 200 Pentonville Road, around five minutes from King’s Cross St Pancras. Current rooms begin at £372 per week, and the provider lists 44- and 51-week contracts among its tenancy choices. Bills, Wi-Fi and access to the building’s study and social facilities form part of the rent.

The entry room currently uses a twin-studio arrangement. Two residents share the sleeping space and bathroom, so the price does not describe a private en-suite.

King’s Cross can serve active institutions around Bloomsbury, Euston, Holborn and central London. Students should map the present campus instead of using Grafton’s former premises as their destination.

Old Street And Clerkenwell

Old Street and Clerkenwell place students east of the West End.

The Northern line connects Old Street with Tottenham Court Road. Buses also cross central London, although traffic can increase weekday travel times.

Chapter Old Street currently begins at £314 per week and includes shared rooms, private rooms, studios and selected complete apartments.

The area suits students who divide their time between an academic campus and work in Shoreditch or the City. It creates more travel to Oxford Street than Fitzrovia or Bloomsbury but can provide a wider choice of managed rooms.

Waterloo And South Bank

Waterloo gives students direct Bakerloo line access to Oxford Circus.

The neighbourhood contains large rail connections, cultural venues and several student residences. A property near Waterloo station can work for students who study north of the Thames but prefer South Bank.

The commute remains manageable, but central London river crossings become busy during peak hours. Test the full door-to-door journey before accepting a tenancy.

Students should also compare Waterloo with Elephant and Castle, where rents can fall lower while the Bakerloo and Northern lines maintain central connections.

Islington

Islington provides a larger private-room market north-east of central London.

Angel and Highbury & Islington connect with the Underground, Overground and buses. Travel to Oxford Street usually needs a change or a direct bus.

Current House of Student listings show AXO Islington from £299 per week and Chapter Islington from £334. Both properties include private rooms and studios, while available contracts and room categories change throughout the booking period.

Islington can serve students at several active north and central London institutions. It should not appear as a current Grafton College recommendation.

London property pages usually lead with a weekly rate. The agreement determines what the student actually pays.

A 51-week tenancy helps a postgraduate, intern or student who plans to remain in London through summer. It adds unnecessary cost for someone who moves home after examinations.

Check the following dates before comparing rooms:

  • Course induction
  • First teaching week
  • Examination period
  • Final required
  • Course induction
  • First teaching week
  • Examination period
  • Final required campus date
  • Summer placement or internship
  • Planned departure from London

Seven extra weeks can add several thousand pounds to a central London tenancy. Only pay for that time when the room supports a genuine academic, work or personal need.

Shared Room

A shared room places two residents in the same bedroom or studio.

This format can reduce rent in expensive central districts. Chapter King’s Cross currently uses a twin studio for its £372 entry category.

Both residents need to agree on sleep, calls, guests, lighting and cleaning. A lower rent will not help when the arrangement affects study or rest.

Private Room With A Shared Bathroom

The resident receives a private bedroom and shares the bathroom and kitchen.

This category often gives students the lowest cost without bedroom sharing. Conventional private houses and some older managed residences use this layout.

Ask how many residents use each bathroom. The property page may show the bedroom clearly but provide little information about the household.

En-Suite Room

An en-suite gives the resident a private shower, toilet and basin. Flatmates share the kitchen.

This arrangement balances privacy with regular contact among residents. The private bathroom usually adds a sizeable amount to the weekly rent.

Kitchen size still matters. Six or eight residents need enough cupboards, refrigerator shelves and cooking equipment.

Studio

A studio combines the sleeping area, bathroom and kitchenette in one unit.

Central London studios often begin well above £400 per week. Current listings show Student Living Heights from £432, AXO Oxford Circus from about £535 and Grosvenor House around £650 or more.

A studio gives residents full control over cooking and cleaning. It can also feel isolated and leave little money for food, transport or course costs.

Private Flat

A complete flat gives a couple or group more space and control.

The tenants usually manage all bills, cleaning and repairs. Landlords may ask for a UK guarantor or evidence of income.

Every resident should appear on the tenancy. Informal subletting creates serious risks when the named tenant leaves, or the landlord has not approved the arrangement.

These figures reflect current displayed entry rates. A lower-priced category can fill while the building continues to sell other rooms.

The prices do not represent accommodation connected with Grafton College of Management Sciences. Students need proof of study at an active institution before many providers will approve a booking.

Chapter King’s Cross

Chapter King’s Cross has 44- and 51-week options among its current contracts.

The £372 entry rate produces these basic totals:

Contract

Rent at £372 Per Week

44 weeks

£16,368

51 weeks

£18,972

The current entry room uses a twin format. Private en-suites and studios cost substantially more, with several studio categories above £500 per week.

The building includes utility bills, Wi-Fi, study rooms, a gym, a cinema room and shared social areas within the rent. Those facilities carry value only when the resident uses them regularly.

A student who leaves London in June may not need a 51-week agreement. The additional seven weeks cost £2,604 at the £372 rate.

Chapter Old Street

Chapter Old Street currently lists rooms from £314 per week.

The building includes shared rooms, private bedrooms, studios and selected complete units. Its Old Street location supports active institutions around the City, Clerkenwell, Bloomsbury and Shoreditch.

The Northern line provides access towards Tottenham Court Road. A resident should still include the walk at both ends when comparing it with a higher-priced Bloomsbury room.

Check the room category behind the advertised entry price. Shared student accommodation London can appear beside studio photographs on a general property page.

Romano Court

Romano Court currently appears from £240 per week for private rooms within House of Student’s central London results.

The lower entry rate deserves attention, but the applicant still needs to confirm:

  • Bathroom arrangement
  • Kitchen group size
  • Contract length
  • Bills
  • Deposit
  • Guarantor requirements
  • Current availability

A £240 room over 51 weeks would reach £12,240 before any excluded charges. Another weekly rate may apply to the actual tenancy available.

Grosvenor House

Grosvenor House occupies a central position near Covent Garden and currently appears at roughly £650 per week or more in live London comparisons. The property focuses on studios and complete private units.

At £650 per week, a 51-week agreement would reach £33,150.

The location provides little financial value for most students unless the resident has a large budget and attends an active institution nearby. A direct Underground journey from another district can save well over £10,000 during the academic year.

Central London offers very few genuinely low-cost student rooms. Students usually reduce their annual rent by moving farther from Oxford Street while keeping a direct Underground or bus route.

Romano Court currently represents the lower end of the managed-room comparison at around £240 per week. AXO Islington and Chapter Old Street occupy the next price band, while King’s Cross and Bloomsbury properties generally cost more.

A lower-priced room outside Zone 1 can save a substantial amount over the year. Wembley, Ealing, Camberwell, New Cross and Surrey Quays often appear at lower weekly prices than Fitzrovia or Covent Garden. The commute may take longer, so students need to compare the saving with the time and transport involved.

A £245 room over 51 weeks costs £12,495. A £432 central studio over the same period costs £22,032. The £9,537 difference can cover food, travel, course materials and several other living expenses.

Students should give priority to:

  • One direct transport route
  • A contract that matches the course
  • Bills included in the rent
  • A safe late-evening journey
  • A manageable kitchen group
  • Clear cancellation terms

A property does not need a central postcode to support central London study.

Tottenham Court Road

Tottenham Court Road serves the Central, Northern and Elizabeth lines.

It provides direct access from east, west, north and south London. The Elizabeth line also connects with major railway stations and Heathrow.

A property near an Elizabeth line station can create a quicker journey than its map distance suggests.

Oxford Circus

Oxford Circus serves the Central, Victoria and Bakerloo lines.

The Victoria line connects with areas such as King’s Cross, Highbury, Tottenham Hale, Victoria and Brixton. The Bakerloo line links Oxford Circus with Paddington, Marylebone, Waterloo and north-west London.

The station becomes extremely busy during peak periods and on major shopping days.

Bond Street

Bond Street serves the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines.

This station gives direct links towards Wembley, Canary Wharf, Stratford and Heathrow. It may suit students who attend an active institution near the western end of Oxford Street.

Buses

Numerous bus routes travel through or near Oxford Street, Regent Street, Tottenham Court Road and New Oxford Street.

A direct bus can reduce walking and avoid Underground changes. Traffic can make the same journey much longer during the morning or evening rush.

Students should check the route at the exact time they need to reach class.

Walking

Walking works well from Fitzrovia, Soho, Bloomsbury, Marylebone and parts of Covent Garden.

A short walk can justify a higher rent when the student attends campus five days each week. The saving becomes less convincing when teaching takes place on only two days.

Cycling

Central London has cycle lanes and shared-bike services, but heavy traffic requires confidence.

Students should check whether the property provides secure bicycle storage. Street parking increases theft risk, especially for a bicycle left outside overnight.

National And International Rail

Euston, King’s Cross, St Pancras, Charing Cross, Waterloo, Paddington and Victoria all lie within a short public-transport journey.

St Pancras provides Eurostar services, while the Elizabeth line connects Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road with Heathrow.

Students who travel home regularly may place more value on station access than proximity to Oxford Street.
