Llandaff and Plas Gwyn
A Western Avenue timetable points first to Llandaff. Plas Gwyn lies near the teaching campus and keeps the route short without placing the room in the city centre. Every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and eight residents share one kitchen and dining area. Utilities, Wi-Fi and contents insurance form part of the fee.
Llandaff village brings cafés, pubs, local shops and the Taff Trail into the same part of Cardiff. Danescourt and Llandaff North can also work, but the railway, river and main roads affect the route from one street to another.
Anyone checking student accommodation near Cardiff Metropolitan University Llandaff should begin with Plas Gwyn, North Court and addresses around Western Avenue. A city-centre hall can still fit the timetable, though the 1, 2 or M1 bus will handle most campus journeys. Cardiff Met estimates roughly 15 minutes on foot between North Court or Plas Gwyn and Llandaff campus.
Cyncoed and Lakeside
Cyncoed gives sport, education and social policy courses the shortest route. University halls occupy the campus grounds, placing lectures, training, the library, sports facilities and the Students’ Union in the same location.
Lakeside and the roads around Roath Park add private houses within walking or cycling distance. The area has fewer purpose-built halls than the city centre and carries plenty of family housing, so room availability can narrow quickly.
Useful student accommodation near Cardiff Metropolitan University Cyncoed follows the 52 bus corridor or falls within a realistic walk of Cyncoed Road. The 52 enters the campus and links it with Roath, Cathays and the city centre.
Heath and Maindy
Heath and Maindy occupy the space between both campuses, although each address produces a different journey. Clodien House and North Court keep Llandaff within a manageable bus or cycle route, while Cyncoed may need another connection.
Whitchurch Road covers groceries, cafés, takeaways and everyday errands. Shared houses can cost less than city-centre studios, particularly when an established group rents the entire property.
This part of Cardiff also helps with placements at the University Hospital of Wales. Put campus, placement and part-time work addresses on the same map before committing to the postcode.
Roath, Penylan and Albany Road
Roath puts Cyncoed on a direct bus line. The 52 travels through Albany Road and Penylan before entering the university grounds, while supermarkets, cafés and food outlets cover most weekly errands along the same corridor.
The Parade, City Road and Newport Road contain several private halls. These addresses keep the centre nearby without charging the premium attached to some central studios.
A request for private student accommodation close to Cardiff Metropolitan University often returns properties in this area. Check which campus the listing measures, because a quick route to Cyncoed does not give the same result for Llandaff.
Cathays
Cathays contains Cardiff’s largest concentration of student houses, supermarkets, takeaways and late-opening venues. Neither Cardiff Met campus falls within a short walk, but bus and cycle routes connect the area with both.
The M1 links Llandaff and Cyncoed through Cathays, Whitchurch and Roath. A house near the correct stop can remove a long walk before and after the bus journey.
Property condition changes sharply from one street to another. Check heating, damp, bedroom sizes, kitchen storage and noise during the viewing.
City Centre, Adamsdown and Newport Road
The city centre contains the highest concentration of studios and managed en-suite rooms. Northgate House, Crown Place and Ty Pont Haearn occupy central or near-central addresses.
Neither campus lies in the centre. Llandaff uses the 1, 2 or M1 route, while Cyncoed relies mainly on the 52 and M1. A central address can still suit regular rail travel, evening work or a course that requires fewer campus days.
Adamsdown and Newport Road carry lower entry prices than many premium studios. The Fitzalan, West Wing and Adam Street Gardens belong to this side of the market.
