About this property
Choosing student accommodation in Sheffield usually comes down to a few things: how close you are to university, what you get for your rent and whether the property fits the way you actually want to live. St Vincents Place Sheffield sits in the city centre, keeping university campuses, shops, transport links and places to eat within easy reach.
The property has both private studios and en-suite rooms in shared apartments, so students can choose between having their own space and living with flatmates. Utility bills are included in the rent, while study areas, social spaces and everyday facilities are available within the building.
For students moving to Sheffield for their first year or returning for another academic year, St Vincents Place Sheffield offers a practical base with much of the city within walking distance.
Address 30 Hollis Croft Sheffield S1 4NE United Kingdom
Being close to the city centre makes a difference to everyday routines. University buildings, supermarkets, cafés and entertainment venues are all within a manageable distance, so students don't have to rely on long journeys for most of their regular plans.
Sainsbury's on The Moor and Tesco Extra are nearby for groceries, while Orchard Square gives students another place to shop, eat or spend an afternoon in the city.
There are plenty of places to eat around the area too. FirePit Rocks and The Roebuck Tavern and Kitchen are close to the accommodation, while the cafés around Division Street are useful for grabbing coffee between lectures or meeting friends.
Students who like to exercise can use TFC The Fitness Club or The Gym Group Sheffield The Moor. Devonshire Green offers some open space when you want a break from the city streets, and Sheffield Central Library provides another place to study away from your room.
The area also has several pubs and evening venues, including The Foresters, Bungalows & Bears and Mr Wilson's.
The location is one reason to consider this accommodation, but it also gives students a choice of room layouts and several facilities within the building.
Some of the main features include:
Private studios and en-suite rooms in shared apartments. Utility bills, broadband, Wi-Fi and contents insurance included in the rent. Study rooms for coursework and revision. Common room, cinema room and music room. 24-hour security, CCTV and secure door entry. Concierge service for resident support. On-site laundry facilities. Secure bike storage. Printing and recycling facilities. Close access to Sheffield's universities and city centre.
The combination works particularly well for students who want to keep their accommodation costs predictable while having places to study and socialise without leaving the building.
There is a large selection of room types, including studios and en-suite rooms within shared flats. Prices vary between categories, giving students several options to compare before booking.

Weekly rents can change according to room availability and tenancy length.
The range also means students aren't restricted to one type of setup. Studios give residents their own living space, while the shared apartment options offer a more social arrangement with a private en-suite bedroom.
Several household expenses are already covered by the weekly rent.

Having these costs included means students don't need to arrange separate utility accounts after moving in. It also makes it easier to work out how much of the weekly budget is going towards accommodation.
The facilities cover the main parts of student life, from finding somewhere to work to having spaces where you can spend time outside your room.
Students have access to dedicated study rooms, giving them another option when they need to concentrate on coursework, revision or group projects.
There are several shared areas within the property:
Common room Cinema room Music room
The common room provides a general space to spend time with other residents, while the cinema and music rooms offer different ways to relax after lectures.

Once your university place is confirmed, checking accommodation early gives you more choice before the available rooms start to reduce.
There are both private studios and en-suite rooms within shared apartments, so students can compare different living arrangements rather than being limited to one type of room. The available prices also cover several budget points, with some studio options starting from £153 per week.
Room availability can change throughout the Clearing period. If this property is on your shortlist, it's worth checking the current options as soon as your university place is confirmed.
The city-centre location makes travelling around Sheffield fairly straightforward. Students can use nearby tram, bus and rail services for longer journeys, while several university campuses can also be reached on foot.

Laundry, printing, bike storage, recycling and concierge services cover some of the practical tasks that come with student living.
Its location is particularly useful for students at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Both institutions have campuses within a couple of miles, while the city centre, public transport and everyday amenities are close to the property.

One off visit to a relative's uni-digs. The building's wheelie bins, accessible via the ground floor entrance, gave pungent odour that permitted throughout the ground floor. His room seemed very small -barley enough room to get out of bed. Ensuite bathroom, similarly very small. Communal kitchen seemed okay for a corridor of about 6 rooms with a coach, table island using and dedicated fridges.

The accommodation is very nice and accessible to stay in. Its close to a good number of grocery stores and restaurants and the communal areas are the best part. There is a strong sense of community and the staff are all delightful and helpful

Very small rooms and not very clean on move-in day. Kitchen appliances are slightly disgusting. Nice common room. At day (from around 11am to 18pm) there is no one at the recption.

You might want to choose a low floor when you see 1x 630kg lift per block and how dense the clusters can be.

Absolutely the worst student accommodation experience I've had – unprofessional staff, unhygienic conditions, and poor value for money. Let me be clear: the rooms are extremely small—less than half the size of my previous student accommodation, which was priced similarly and even included 3 daily meals. In comparison, St Vincent’s Place offers far less for the price, and the overall experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Maintenance is slow, communal areas are often dirty, and the rules around shared facilities are vague, constantly changing, and not documented anywhere. Even when you ask staff on advice, the response is often, “I don’t know, just Google it.” One of the most serious issues we faced recently was discovering 2 mops—left in kitchen of our flat before we even moved in—that had become infested with maggots. When we asked staff for just basic cleaning materials, we were told: “This is your responsibility to clean the kitchen, not mine.” That kind of response to a clear hygiene issue is completely unacceptable in any managed accommodation. What made the experience even worse was the rude and unprofessional conduct of a specific night-shift staff member (short-haired woman on the late shift). She has repeatedly treated me and my friends disrespectfully while seemingly never confronting other residents in the same way: I was resting with my eyes closed due to feeling unwell. She accused me of “making excuses” and said I needed to prove I had a medical condition, or else I was lying. I was lying down while watching a movie in the cinema room with my friend—she burst in and said sleeping in public spaces was against the rules. My friend and I were cooking in the shared kitchen around 10:30pm, and she insisted we needed a booking (which we confirmed with staff it was not required), and that cooking after 11pm was not allowed—again, a rule that exists nowhere in writing or verbally. These interactions were not one-offs—they followed a clear pattern of selective targeting. I've never seen this staff member confront other residents with similar behaviours in the same way. This raises serious concerns about bias and a hostile living environment for specific students. The only positives about this place are the location and my flatmates (I was lucky to have met good ones). Without them, I would have left long ago. There are far better accommodations in Sheffield at the same or even lower prices, with cleaner facilities, more respectful staff, and clearer communication. My honest recommendation: Avoid St Vincent’s Place. You can do much better.
