About this property
A lot of university life happens outside the classroom. It is the walk to lectures in the morning, a quick supermarket run before dinner, and finding somewhere to switch off after spending hours on coursework.
Brass Founders Sheffield sits on Scotland Street, close to both universities and the city centre. The location works well for students who want campus, shops, cafés, and social spots within easy reach rather than planning every day around long commutes.
Brass Founders student accommodation combines private living spaces with shared facilities throughout the building, giving residents places to study, exercise, meet people, or simply spend time outside their rooms. As a modern student accommodation Sheffield, it provides a balanced living environment that supports both academic focus and social interaction.
Address: 130 Scotland Street, Sheffield, S3 7DD, United Kingdom
The location places residents close to many of the places students end up using regularly.
Need groceries after lectures? Supermarkets are nearby.
Fancy grabbing food with friends? The city centre and Kelham Island are both within easy reach.
Need somewhere quieter for an afternoon? Libraries and green spaces around Sheffield are not far away either.
Halls Brass Founders also benefits from good transport connections across the city. Walking, cycling, buses, and trams all make getting around Sheffield relatively straightforward.
Abbeyfield Park and Endcliffe Park provide somewhere different to spend an hour away from campus and coursework, while Sheffield City Archives and local libraries remain useful when you need a change of study environment.
Accommodation usually starts feeling important once classes become busy and routines begin to settle. Convenience starts saving time in ways that seem small at first but quickly become noticeable.
A few things make Brass Founders Sheffield a popular choice among students:
Stay Close to University and the City Centre: The University of Sheffield is around a ten-minute walk away, while Sheffield Hallam University can also be reached without spending large parts of the day travelling. The city centre and Kelham Island both sit nearby, so lectures and social plans fit comfortably into the same routine.
Choose Between Shared and Independent Living: Different students enjoy different living arrangements. Some prefer having flatmates around and sharing a kitchen. Others like cooking, studying, and spending time entirely in their own space. Brass Founders gives residents both options through en-suite rooms and self-contained studios.
Keep Accommodation Costs Straightforward: Electricity, heating, water, Wi-Fi, and contents insurance are already included in the rent. There are no separate utility accounts to organise and no surprise bills arriving halfway through the semester.
Spend Time Somewhere Other Than Your Room: Everyone reaches the point where they need a change of surroundings. The cinema room, common areas, gym, and outdoor courtyards give residents different places to sit, catch up with friends, or take a break after a long day.
Have Everyday Essentials Already in Place: Laundry facilities, bike storage, secure entry systems, maintenance support, and on-site staff remove many of the small inconveniences that can become frustrating during the academic year.
The room you move into in September rarely stays just a bedroom. At different points in the year, it becomes a study space, somewhere to eat dinner after late lectures, and occasionally the place where you end up spending an entire rainy Sunday.
Sheffield Brass Founders includes both en-suite rooms and private studios, giving residents different ways to experience university living.

Leaving here has been a good experience overall. The rooms are comfortable and the building feel safe. The staff are friendly and helpful when needed and the location is convinient for getting to University and nearby by shops for gorceries.

Honestly, I did not intend to leave a review, but after living here for some time, the ongoing issues made it impossible to stay silent. Overall, this apartment is overpriced for what it offers, and the location is quite remote. While it may look acceptable at first glance, the actual living experience was disappointing. Cons (the main issues): First of all, the room condition is not ideal. The room is relatively small, and the facilities are old — I would rate them around 3 out of 5. More concerning is that there always seem to be small insects in the room, and I was often bitten while sleeping. This happened despite washing my bedding (sheets, duvet cover, and pillowcases) every week, which made the situation particularly frustrating. Secondly, the reception service is often unattended, and emails are not replied to in a timely manner. Because of this, receiving parcels is inconvenient. The gym is very small, has limited and outdated equipment, and there is also an unpleasant smell, which makes it uncomfortable to use. The courtyard is poorly maintained. Rubbish is not cleared regularly, and the overall landscaping is not visually appealing. In general, the facilities are old and not properly maintained. According to the inspection label, equipment should be checked annually, but the last inspection was marked as 2024, and no inspection was done last year. As a result, when I moved in, several appliances — including the fridge, kettle, and stove — were already malfunctioning. Although I reported these issues, repairs were delayed and not handled promptly. The heating system is very weak, making the apartment extremely cold in winter. Although the apartment claims to be close to a supermarket, the nearest Chinese supermarket is very expensive, so it is not very practical for daily shopping. Pros (limited positives): On the positive side, I was lucky to have a very nice neighbour, and we got along well, which made the experience slightly better. The hot water is sufficiently hot, although it takes a long time to run before it actually becomes hot, which is inconvenient. The only real selling point of this apartment is the free washer-dryer machines, which do make doing laundry convenient. However, when many residents share them, the convenience is not significantly better than other apartments, and the advantage becomes less meaningful.
