Picking student accommodation is one of those decisions that can have a bigger effect on university life than you might expect. Your commute, where you buy groceries, how easily you can get into town and whether you have somewhere to unwind all become part of the weekly routine. The Residence Coventry puts students close to the city centre, universities, public transport and the places they'll use regularly, making day-to-day life fairly straightforward.
The Residence student accommodation offers private studios as well as a two-bedroom apartment, so students can choose between living independently and sharing with someone they know. Rooms come furnished, utility bills are included, and the building has shared spaces for relaxing and spending time with other residents. For students comparing accommodation in Coventry, it offers a practical mix of private living space and facilities within the building.
University accommodation becomes your base for much more than sleeping. It's where you'll cook between lectures, work on assignments, have friends over and switch off at the end of a long day. The Residence caters to those different parts of student life without making the accommodation itself feel complicated.
Students can choose from several studio layouts, each with its own kitchen and bathroom, or opt for the Premium 2 Bed Apartment and share the wider living space with another student. Studios suit those who prefer to keep everything in one private space, while the two-bedroom option gives you company without requiring you to share your bedroom.
There are also shared areas around the property for time away from your room. A lounge, cinema room, pool table and outdoor courtyards give residents somewhere to meet friends or take a break from coursework. The on-site gym and other practical facilities mean that some of the things you need during the week are available without having to travel elsewhere.
Address: The Residence, St Columbas Close, Coventry CV1 4BX, United Kingdom
The Residence is close to Coventry city centre, so many everyday errands can be fitted around your university timetable rather than requiring a separate trip. Sainsbury's on Trinity Street is nearby for groceries, while Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre has shops, cafés and restaurants for days when you want to spend some time in town.
There are plenty of places to eat nearby too. Cosy Club and Turtle Bay Coventry are options for meals with friends, while cafés around Cathedral Lanes are handy when you want a coffee or a quick break between classes.
Getting around Coventry is also fairly simple. Pool Meadow Bus Station is close to the property and connects students with different parts of the city and surrounding areas. Coventry Rail Station is useful for longer journeys, including trips home during weekends and university holidays.
There are quieter options when you want a break from the city centre. Greyfriars Green provides some open space outdoors, while Coventry Central Library gives students another place to work when they don't want to study in their room. PureGym Coventry Bishop Street is nearby for regular workouts, and Coventry NHS Walk-in Centre provides access to medical services when needed.
The Residence Coventry gives students a choice between private studios and shared apartment living, backed by facilities that cover some of the more practical parts of university life. Its city-centre location is another advantage for students who would rather keep their commute and everyday errands short.
Some of the reasons students choose the residence student accommodation include:
Private studios and a two-bedroom apartment for different living preferences.
Electricity, gas, heating, water and Wi-Fi included within the rent.
Cinema room, lounge, pool table and outdoor courtyards for time away from studying.

CCTV, on-site security and maintenance support.
On-site laundry facilities for regular washing.
Wheelchair-accessible accommodation.

If you've secured your university place through Clearing, accommodation is often the next item on the list. Room availability can change as more students confirm their places, so leaving your search until late in the process may limit your choice.
The Residence offers both private studios and a Premium 2 Bed Apartment, giving students a couple of different ways to live. If you're applying through Clearing, checking the available rooms soon after confirming your university place can give you more time to compare the options and choose one that fits your budget.
The Residence is close to the main transport links in Coventry, which is useful for students travelling to university, heading into the city or making longer journeys during the holidays.
Pool Meadow Bus Station provides bus services around Coventry and nearby areas. Coventry Rail Station is useful for longer trips, including journeys towards Birmingham, London and other parts of the UK. For shorter journeys, the central location also means that several destinations can be reached on foot.

I’ve been living here for just over two months, and although my stay started a little rocky with some issues in my room, I have to say the way the staff handled everything was absolutely amazing. Lena and Jessica were both incredibly kind and understanding — they moved me to a temporary studio while sorting things out and genuinely cared about how I was feeling during the process. Their support made a huge difference. The building itself is lovely — clean, modern, and in a great location. The atmosphere is friendly, and the community here feels really welcoming. Whenever I’ve had any issues, the team has always been quick and helpful in resolving them. Overall, I’d genuinely recommend The Residence, Coventry to anyone looking for a place with great staff, a supportive environment, and a real sense of community. Reema

*Edited as didn't realise it wasn't published a few years ago as went against Google Policy apparently * Very disappointed with my experience here. The place has really gone downhill — one manager and a receptionist have already left, and the new receptionist I dealt with was quite rude. There was a miscommunication about my move-out date; I wasn’t aware that I had to leave on the 2nd of September when my contract stated the 10th. Instead of explaining politely, she told me to leave. Thankfully, I contacted Homes for Students and spoke with Matthew, who was understanding and allowed me an extra day to pack. When I first moved in (Sept 2021), there were already several issues with my room — the shower water pressure was very poor, the hob didn’t work, and the toilet flush broke (Room 24). I reported these problems multiple times and was told engineers would come out, but no one did until I made repeated complaints. Security has also been a concern. We had two robberies within two months, including one where someone came in from outside and removed the TV from the common room near reception. Only recently was a new fob system added to improve security. Compared to my previous accommodation, Gulson Gardens, this place feels much less safe — they had security on-site overnight, while here there’s none. The costs are unreasonable too — £42 for a lost or forgotten key, whereas Gulson Gardens only charged £6 and would let you in for free if you locked yourself out. Hardly any communal activities or events took place during the year; even Diwali was cancelled due to “lack of funding.” The overall condition of the building isn’t great either — dirty walls, old furniture, and an extremely uncomfortable mattress. The wooden panel behind the bed also makes it hard to sit up and watch TV. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation. There are much better and more secure student options available elsewhere

Nice, spacious rooms and building is in a nice quiet area. The balcony in my room helps me enjoy fresh air without going outside. The friendly, easy-going staff help with bringing up parcels and have kept residents engaged during the pandemic with fun online activities where prizes are won. Highly recommend. I've attached the lovely view from my balcony.

Staying at Prestige Student Living has been a good experience overall. The location is super convenient, close to uni and everything I need. The room is nice, with plenty of storage, and the common areas are great for studying or just hanging out. The staff have been really helpful whenever I’ve needed something. The only slight downside rent is a bit high, but for the location and what you get, it feels worth it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for student accommodation!

I have been living at The Residence for the past two years, and my stay has been absolutely fantastic. From the start, the staff have made me feel so welcome, especially Lena and Jess, who are incredibly kind and always go the extra mile to accommodate any request. Their support has truly enhanced my experience here. One of the standout perks is the free bus pass for the year, which has been incredibly useful for getting around Coventry and beyond. The location of The Residence is another major advantage—it’s in a prime spot, close to town, and with excellent transport links, making it easy to access everything you need. My room has been nothing short of exceptional. It’s spacious, comfortable, and luxurious, providing a relaxing environment that’s perfect for both studying and unwinding. Considering the quality of the accommodation and the amenities, it’s also excellent value for money. Overall, The Residence has exceeded my expectations in every way. It combines comfort, convenience, and outstanding service, making it, in my opinion, the best student accommodation in Coventry. I highly recommend it to any student looking for a great place to live.
