To elevate the standard and profile of drawing, especially drawing from observation, through teaching and practice. It aims to be a vital resource, emphasizing drawing as a fundamental skill for creativity, innovation, and understanding across various fields (art, design, film, engineering, etc.). Founded in 2000 by King Charles III (then the Prince of Wales) and artist Catherine Goodman as 'The Prince's Drawing School'. It gained the 'Royal' title in 2014. It was established partly in response to a perceived decline in observational drawing instruction within art education.
