I’ve been here for 8 months and I really like it. The location is so good city centre is super close as well. But the staff are the best thing here, they’re so sweet, friendly and fun to talk to. you can literally go to them for anything and they’ll listen and help you straight away. Special thanks to Robert he’s the best!! Definitely rebooking my room because of them 🤍

Staff is very friendly and always willing to help, location is great as it’s just a 20 minute walk away from the town centre and the university of York while there is a big Aldi just a 10 minute walk away. Rooms are spacious and modern. There’s also activities every now and then in the lounge area which is great for meeting students from the other buildings. There’s also promotional codes that help save money on rent, definitely worth having a look prior to booking!

I complained about a problem with rising damp and mould in the room, (which is an apparent problem across the whole of Frederick House) and my complaint was ignored. Ignoring mould is illegal under multiple acts and yet they didnt care. Only when you bring up the fact its illegal they'll do something about it (send a poor cleaner) cause all they want is your money and they dont care about you and your wellbeing. They are just another greedy student housing company who rips students off. ONLY APPLY TO FREDERICK HOUSE IF YOU WANT A MOULDY ROOM AND FOR THEM TO NOT LISTEN.

It’s okay. I find it hard to recommend but if you’re hard pressed to find somewhere to live it will do. It’s expensive, about 10k a year and the room is quite small, but this is typical in York. When I arrived I was given a fob for the door, a welcome pack and shown to the room - which was nice. At first glance it looked alright, but looking closer it was clear that the room hadn’t been cleaned much/at all. Lots of mould on some surfaces, dust, a cupboard full of eyelashes, sauce in the fridge etc - not ideal, the chair was also broken, which to their credit they replaced that night - but I had to clean the room myself, which for the price they are charging is a bit ridiculous. Everything is a bit worn. Not much provided in the room either, a kettle covered in residue that floats in the water and a toaster. You have a big window, a blind for privacy, the window had a limiter fitted at some point so you can’t throw yourself out, but it severely restricts airflow so maybe get a fan. Plenty of storage/ cupboard/ wardrobe. The facilities aren’t really worth it, they don’t add much. It’s a small building at the reception with a little gym and a room with a tv in - nice to have access too I suppose but not worth factoring into your decision if you’re thinking about living here. The non-ensuite kitchen rooms have a kitchen/ social area but the other blocks have none so you will not come into contact with anyone. The reception block also houses the laundry room. A full wash and rinse is currently £4.80, dryer is £2.70. If you’re doing colours/whites separately you’ll end up paying a small fortune in washing so be prepared for that, it’s ran by circuit which I think is standardised but it’s still a rip off. No overnight parking, so you cant bring a car. Theres a bus stop outside reception serviced by the U3, if you want to get on the more regular U2 or 1 it’s about a 5/10 min walk. Overall it’s alright but I wouldn’t live here given the choice to live somewhere nice on campus/ closer to campus as it’s not any better and more expensive here.
