Peel Park and Frederick Road lie roughly ten minutes apart on foot. Salford Crescent railway station stands between them. The free number 50 bus connects both sites with MediaCity from Monday to Friday when students show their university identification card.

Check the course page and timetable information before comparing properties by university name alone. Some programmes divide teaching between two campuses.

Every registered student becomes a member of Salford Students’ Union.

The Union supports more than 50 student-led societies covering culture, performance, sport, debate, comedy, volunteering and academic interests. Shock Radio also operates from University House.

The campus sports centre includes fitness rooms, a 25-metre swimming pool, fitness classes and indoor sports facilities.

Peel Park provides the nearest outdoor space to the main campus. Chapel Street connects students with Manchester’s restaurants, venues and shopping districts. MediaCity adds The Lowry, Quayside shopping, waterfront restaurants and cultural events.

The accommodation location changes the social week. Peel Park residents stay close to Union events. Frederick Road residents gain a quieter residential setting and nearby supermarkets. Quays residents keep MediaCity venues close but travel farther for main-campus activities.

Peel Park and The Crescent

Peel Park gives main-campus students the shortest academic route. The library, New Adelphi, Maxwell Building, University House and the sports centre all occupy this part of Salford.

Peel Park Quarter stands on University Road within the campus grounds. Residents leave the property and reach teaching buildings in a few minutes. The residence also overlooks Peel Park, which provides riverside paths and green space beside the university.

The Crescent forms the principal road beside campus. Several bus services travel towards Manchester, Pendleton, MediaCity and neighbouring Salford districts. Salford Crescent station provides direct connections to Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, Bolton, Preston and Manchester Airport.

A main-campus address removes most weekday transport. It also leaves Manchester city centre within a 25- to 30-minute walk or a much shorter bus or rail trip.

University of Salford Accommodation Peel Park

Peel Park Quarter contains en-suite bedrooms grouped into flats of four to ten residents. Every bedroom has a private bathroom, desk and storage. Flatmates share the kitchen.

Campus Living Villages currently lists four main room levels:

Room category

Current weekly rate

Main difference

Bronze

£169.50

Standard en-suite with a small double bed

Silver

£175

Additional floor space from a bay window

Gold

£188

More desk and storage space plus an armchair

Platinum

£199.50

Largest room category

The provider shows contracts ending in June and August, which broadly correspond to 42- and 51-week agreements. Bills, Wi-Fi, furniture, contents insurance, security and access to shared facilities form part of the payment.

The residence has a gym, study rooms, cinema rooms, common areas, bicycle storage and laundry facilities. Students pay separately for laundry and any optional services.

Peel Park Quarter prioritises first-year undergraduate residents. Postgraduate students need to consider John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts or another private building.

Frederick Road and Seaford Road

Frederick Road gives healthcare, nursing and sport students their most practical location.

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts stand beside the Frederick Road campus and are around 15 minutes from Peel Park. Tramways occupies Frederick Road itself, while iQ Student Quarter stands on Seaford Road.

The area includes Salford Shopping Centre, supermarkets, pharmacies and regular bus services. Salford Crescent station remains reachable on foot.

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts currently display private rooms from £129 per week through House of Student. The building provides common rooms, study facilities, a gym, a cinema room, laundry facilities and shared kitchens. The provider includes energy costs, Wi-Fi, contents insurance and furniture in the rent.

Tramways lists en-suite rooms from £151 under a 50-week contract. Four or six students share each kitchen and lounge. Its current room table marks the available categories as sold out, so the £151 figure should serve as a price reference until the provider releases another room.

Frederick Road often gives better daily access than Peel Park Quarter for health students. Main-campus learners still gain a manageable walk.

Pendleton

Pendleton begins around Salford Shopping Centre and extends north of Frederick Road.

The district contains managed student residences, conventional flats and terraced houses. Local supermarkets reduce the need for grocery trips into Manchester.

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts provide the largest student community in this part of Salford. Houses around Seaford Road, Romney Street and Haddon Street give smaller groups a more independent arrangement.

A Pendleton address generally keeps Frederick Road within 5 to 15 minutes on foot. Peel Park may take 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the street.

Check the evening route before committing to a house. Some residential streets become much quieter after shops close.

Lower Broughton

Lower Broughton lies north-east of Peel Park beside the River Irwell.

Traditional terraces and newer flats form much of the housing. Groups often choose the area when they want a complete house without paying Manchester city-centre rents.

The university route generally takes 20 to 35 minutes on foot. Local buses shorten the trip from streets farther north.

A five-bedroom house costs less per person only when the household splits bills fairly. Check the heating system, window condition, bathroom ratio and kitchen storage during the viewing.

Lower Broughton offers a quieter residential routine than Peel Park Quarter. It does not provide the same immediate access to the library, Students’ Union or Salford Crescent station.

Chapel Street and New Bailey

Chapel Street connects Peel Park with Manchester city centre.

Newer apartment buildings, cafés and restaurants have expanded along this corridor. Manchester’s Spinningfields district begins at the eastern end, while Salford Cathedral and the university occupy the western side.

A Chapel Street address puts both Salford and central Manchester within walking distance. The university route may take 10 to 25 minutes, according to the building.

Purpose-built student residences here usually charge more than John Lester or Tramways. Ordinary apartment contracts may also exclude bills and require a substantial deposit.

The location helps students with part-time work in Manchester, regular train travel or frequent city-centre plans. Peel Park Quarter remains cheaper than many premium apartments on the same corridor.

Salford Quays and MediaCity

MediaCity gives journalism, television and digital production students their shortest academic route.

The university building occupies the Orange Tower beside studios, offices, restaurants, tram stops and waterfront paths. Trams serve MediaCity and Harbour City, while the number 50 bus connects the Quays with Peel Park and Frederick Road.

True Manchester-Salford currently lists private en-suite rooms from £229 and studios from £248. Its available contracts include 40, 44 and 51 weeks, plus several shorter periods.

A 51-week private room at £229 costs £11,679. Peel Park Quarter’s Bronze room costs £7,119 over 42 weeks. The Quays room removes the bus trip to MediaCity, but its longer contract and higher weekly payment add £4,560 to the basic rent.

MediaCity students living at Peel Park or Frederick Road travel free on the number 50 bus during the university’s weekday eligibility period. The trip takes about 20 minutes from Peel Park under university guidance.

Quays accommodation earns its higher cost when the resident values a short route to media teaching, waterfront facilities and the tram network.

Ordsall

Ordsall lies between Salford Quays and Manchester city centre.

The area contains apartment developments, traditional housing and bus routes towards MediaCity, Trafford and central Manchester.

Ordsall can provide a middle point for someone whose timetable includes Peel Park and MediaCity. Neither campus will be immediately outside the property, so the exact bus stop matters.

Check the walking route to Trafford Road or the nearest tram connection. A low rent loses much of its benefit when every teaching day requires multiple changes.

Manchester City Centre

Some Salford students choose Manchester for its employment, nightlife, shopping and transport.

A city-centre home creates a longer route than Peel Park, but many buildings remain within 20 to 40 minutes by foot, bus or train. Salford Crescent connects with Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria, while buses follow Chapel Street and The Crescent.

Riverside House currently displays private rooms from £205. Manchester Student Village begins at £158, although the route and room availability need checking against the University of Salford campus page.

Manchester rents often exceed Salford prices. The city address should save enough time on work, travel, or social plans to justify the added academic commute.

The private property totals use the displayed weekly rates and one listed contract length for comparison. Providers may attach their entry rate to another tenancy or withdraw it after the category fills.

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts currently provide the lowest managed entry rate. Peel Park Quarter charges more but gives first-year students an en-suite room on the main campus.

A 50-week Tramways contract costs £431 more than a 42-week Peel Park Bronze room, even though Tramways displays the lower weekly rate.

En-suite Room in a Shared Flat

An en-suite gives one resident a private bedroom and bathroom. Flatmates share the kitchen.

Peel Park Quarter, Tramways, True Manchester-Salford and several other private buildings use this format.

Peel Park flats contain four to ten bedrooms. Tramways arranges rooms in groups of four or six. A smaller kitchen group usually creates less competition for storage and cooking space.

Check the room dimensions as well as the bathroom. The least expensive en-suite may provide less floor space, a smaller bed, or limited storage.

Private Room with a Shared Bathroom

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts offer several private room categories with shared facilities. Traditional houses around Pendleton and Lower Broughton commonly follow the same arrangement.

This room type often reduces the weekly cost. Ask how many people use each bathroom and whether the provider cleans communal facilities.

John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts include fortnightly bathroom cleaning among its stated services.

Studio

A studio contains a private bathroom and kitchenette within one unit.

True Manchester-Salford currently lists studios from £248. Studios reduce kitchen disagreements and household noise, but they also cost more and limit routine contact with flatmates.

Review the kitchen inventory. Some studios provide two hob rings and a microwave without a full oven.

Private Room in a Shared House

A shared house gives each tenant a bedroom and keeps the kitchen, lounge and bathroom communal.

Romney Street and Haddon Street listings currently begin between £174 and £189 per week. The displayed agreements last 51 weeks.

The university estimates that a room in a Salford house share typically costs £550 to £800 per month, depending on the property and area. That local estimate may exclude utility bills.

House shares attract returning students who already have a reliable group. Inspect every bedroom and agree on the rent split before signing.

Entire Flat

A couple, postgraduate or group of friends may rent a complete apartment.

The tenancy gives residents more control over the household but usually requires a larger deposit, advance rent and separate utility accounts.

Confirm that the landlord allows student occupancy and that the number of tenants complies with the property licence.

For student accommodation in Salford, University of Salford applicants often compare four practical formats: a private hall, a shared house, an ordinary apartment, or a room with a resident landlord.

Tramways

Tramways occupies Frederick Road beside the healthcare campus.

The property contains 224 furnished en-suite bedrooms in flats of four or six. A standard en-suite costs £151 per week under a 50-week agreement, producing a full rent of £7,550. The larger category costs £160 per week.

Bills, Wi-Fi and contents insurance form part of the payment. The current room table marks both categories sold out, so applicants need to check for cancellations.

True Manchester-Salford

True Manchester-Salford occupies King William Street near Salford Quays.

Private en-suite rooms begin at £229, followed by studios from £248. The provider offers several contract lengths, including 40, 44 and 51 weeks.

The location favours MediaCity teaching. Peel Park and Frederick Road require a bus, bicycle or longer walk.

Riverside House

Riverside House currently begins at £205 per week for a private room. The listing shows 28-, 33-, 44- and 51-week contract choices.

A shorter agreement may help exchange students or courses with different dates. Compare the weekly rate attached to each period because providers sometimes charge more for shorter stays.

Romney Street and Haddon Street Houses

Current three-bedroom house listings begin at:

Property

Weekly rent per room

Contract shown

1 Romney Street

£174

51 weeks

8 Haddon Street

£179

51 weeks

25 Romney Street

£189

51 weeks

The listings include bills in the advertised payment. Each resident receives a private bedroom, while the group shares the kitchen and communal facilities.

A three-person household gives residents fewer flatmates than most halls. It also depends more heavily on the relationship between the tenants.

The lowest current managed option starts at John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts.

For student housing, University of Salford returners often begin with John Lester, Tramways and private houses around Frederick Road. First-year students gain direct access to Peel Park Quarter.

The lowest weekly figure does not always produce the smallest annual payment. A £151 Tramways room costs £7,550 over 50 weeks, while a £169.50 Peel Park room costs £7,119 over 42 weeks.

Walking Between Peel Park and Frederick Road

The two main Salford campuses stand around ten minutes apart.

Students can walk between New Adelphi, Maxwell Building, the Clifford Whitworth Library, Allerton Building and Mary Seacole Building without using public transport.

Frederick Road housing therefore remains practical for Peel Park classes. The reverse also applies to Peel Park Quarter residents with occasional healthcare-campus teaching.

Salford Crescent Station

Salford Crescent station stands between Peel Park and Frederick Road.

Direct trains connect with Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, Manchester Airport, Bolton, Preston, Blackburn, Blackpool and several other North West destinations. Manchester Piccadilly takes around ten minutes under university guidance.

Do not confuse Salford Crescent with Salford Central. Salford Central leaves a longer walk to the university.

Number 50 Bus

The number 50 connects Peel Park, Frederick Road, Salford Shopping Centre and MediaCity.

Students travel free between university campuses from Monday to Friday between 5 am and 10.30 pm when they show their university identification card. The bus arrives roughly every 10 to 15 minutes on the MediaCity route.

The service gives Peel Park Quarter and John Lester residents a direct route to MediaCity classes.

Metrolink

MediaCity and Harbour City tram stops serve the Quays campus.

Trams towards Harbour City arrive around every six minutes, while direct MediaCity services operate around every 12 minutes under the current university travel information.

A student based near another tram line may change at Cornbrook or Trafford Bar.

Buses to Peel Park and Frederick Road

Services 8, 35, 36, 37, 38, 50, 67, 100, V1 and V2 serve The Crescent. Most also provide access to Frederick Road.

Greater Manchester buses currently cap a single journey at £2. Contactless tap-and-go helps occasional travellers avoid buying a full pass.

Cycling

The university provides more than 400 secure bicycle spaces around Peel Park and Frederick Road. MediaCity has a 300-space cycle facility through Transport for Greater Manchester.

Cycling gives residents in Lower Broughton, Chapel Street, Ordsall and the Quays another route that avoids traffic delays.

Confirm that the accommodation provides secure overnight storage before bringing an expensive bicycle.
