Loughborough University University Accommodation

Loughborough University traces its history to the Loughborough Technical Institute, founded in 1909. The institution received its university charter in 1966 and now teaches 19,418 students across its Leicestershire and London campuses.

The main campus occupies 523 acres on the western side of Loughborough. Academic buildings, 17 halls, sports facilities, cafés, shops, healthcare services and Loughborough Students’ Union all form part of the same site. The campus also has two gyms, a 50-metre swimming pool, an indoor athletics centre, outdoor pitches and specialist training facilities.

Loughborough has held first place globally for sports-related subjects for ten consecutive years in the QS subject rankings. Its academic strengths also include engineering, business, design, architecture, science, computing and communication.

The main address is:

Loughborough University
Epinal Way
Loughborough
Leicestershire LE11 3TU

A page headed student accommodation loughborough university still needs a postcode check. Some listings relate to the main campus in Leicestershire, while others refer to the postgraduate campus in Stratford, London.

Loughborough Students’ Union occupies the centre of the main campus. During the day, it contains shops, services, food outlets and meeting spaces. At night, the building becomes a 4,000-capacity venue with three event rooms.

The Athletic Union has more than 60 clubs, over 5,000 members and more than 120 teams competing each week. Participation extends from recreational training to elite competition.

Sport remains a major part of university culture, but it does not define every social plan. LSU societies cover academic subjects, music, debate, culture, faith, volunteering, fundraising and media.

The town centre adds cafés, restaurants, pubs, Queen’s Park and Loughborough Market. Leicester and Nottingham can both be reached quickly by train for larger events, concerts and shopping.

A campus resident gains immediate access to LSU events and hall activities. A Golden Triangle or town-centre resident gains more independence while remaining close enough to take part.

On Campus

Campus halls remove the need for a daily journey from town. Lecture buildings, the library, sports facilities and the Students’ Union remain within the university grounds.

The 523-acre site still requires some planning. Telford gives quick access to Pilkington Library. David Collett works well for West Park. Butler Court and The Holt place East Park facilities nearby. A hall at the opposite end of campus can leave a 15- to 25-minute walk to class.

Loughborough operates free electric shuttle buses between the Students’ Union, Pilkington Library, Wolfson School and Holywell Park from Monday to Friday. The service helps residents cross the campus without paying a fare.

University halls include utilities, internet, contents insurance, housekeeping and pastoral support. Catered halls also include the stated number of weekly meals.

Forest Road and Campus Edge

Forest Road follows the eastern boundary of the university. The Holt, Forest Court, Forest Rise and Radmoor House all occupy this side of Loughborough.

This district makes sense for Design and Creative Arts, Towers, the Students’ Union and buildings around East Park. It also keeps the town centre within a reasonable walk.

Current private student accommodation close to loughborough university includes Radmoor House from £154 per week, Forest Court from £173 and Forest Rise from £182. The contracts commonly extend for 46 or 50 weeks, so their final totals can exceed a 41-week university hall.

Forest Road carries traffic throughout the day. Ask which direction the bedroom faces and check the crossing used on the morning route.

New Ashby Road and Kingfisher Estate

New Ashby Road meets the western and northern campus side. Kingfisher Halls and The Cube occupy this general belt.

The Cube stands opposite a university entrance and currently advertises private en-suite rooms from £130 per week. Its contracts cover 44 or 51 weeks, with utility bills included. Several lower-priced categories can sell out while the headline remains visible, so check the live room list before relying on the entry figure.

Kingfisher Halls currently starts at £177 per week and includes en-suite rooms, studios and complete apartments. Its advertised contracts last 50 weeks, with bills included.

This area creates the shortest private route for many West Park courses. Town-centre errands take longer, although buses and bicycles reduce the inconvenience.

The Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle covers much of the space between campus and the town centre. Ashby Road forms its main spine, with student streets extending through Storer Road, Burleigh Road, Cumberland Road and nearby terraces.

Second- and third-year groups often choose this district because it keeps both sides of the week within walking distance. A morning lecture may take 10 to 20 minutes to reach, while supermarkets, takeaways and central shops remain nearby.

Most private shared student accommodation near loughborough university in the Golden Triangle comes through ordinary houses. Each resident has a bedroom, then the household shares bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge.

Condition varies considerably. Check window seals, heating, damp, bedroom locks, shower pressure and kitchen storage during the viewing. A fresh coat of paint cannot correct poor insulation or an unreliable boiler.

The university’s Studentpad service lists inspected, accredited properties. The Loughborough Student Accommodation Centre also supports contract checks and advises tenants throughout the tenancy.

Ashby Road

Ashby Road links the university with the town centre. It has private halls, conventional flats, takeaways, cafés and regular bus stops.

The Student Block occupies a central section of town and currently begins at £161 per week. Contracts include 43-, 44- and 50-week options.

A property on the campus side of Ashby Road can keep most university buildings within a manageable walk. An address nearer the town centre shortens grocery and social trips but adds time to lectures.

Road noise can affect front bedrooms. A rear room may give better sleep even when it has less natural light.

Loughborough Town Centre

The town centre has the greatest concentration of private halls, studios and apartment buildings. Woodgate, Lemyngton Street, Market Street and surrounding roads place shops, restaurants, gyms, pharmacies and the market nearby.

Foundry 1 advertises rooms from £140 per week, though the room categories shown on its current page are marked sold out. The Print House also displays historic entry prices from £140 but presently has no available rooms. Treat both figures as reference points, not bookable rates.

The Student Block currently begins at £161, while Study Inn Loughborough starts at £199. Both include utility bills under their advertised contracts.

The main campus takes around 15 to 30 minutes to reach from central properties, depending on the building and academic department. The Sprint bus can reduce the journey on wet or heavily loaded days.

Station Quarter

Loughborough railway station lies east of the centre, around two miles from parts of the university campus.

This area helps learners who travel frequently for placements, work or family visits. It creates a longer university journey than the Golden Triangle and Forest Road.

The Sprint service links the station, town and campus approximately every ten minutes during term. The university estimates around 20 minutes between the railway station and campus.

A station-side rent needs a transport allowance. Walking remains possible, but it can become an unattractive daily routine during winter.

Shelthorpe and Southern Loughborough

Shelthorpe lies south of the centre and contains conventional houses at lower rents than many purpose-built residences.

The district can work for established groups with bicycles or access to a direct bus. It does not provide the same university atmosphere as the Golden Triangle.

Check evening services and the route from campus before signing. A lower rent can lose its value when every late library session ends with a taxi.

Bonington and Outer Villages

Bonington Student Village lies several miles from the main university. Its current rates begin at £151 per week, and it lists contracts from short stays to 51 weeks.

The location may appeal to postgraduate learners, placement students or anyone connected with the Sutton Bonington area. A Loughborough campus timetable requires a car, organised transport or a long public-transport journey.

Do not choose this property solely because its weekly price undercuts a campus-edge residence. The travel commitment becomes part of every university day.

The university publishes hall prices as full contract totals and weekly equivalents. All standard hall fees include utilities, unlimited internet, contents insurance and cleaning services. Catered fees also cover the stated meal plan.

Falkner Eggington has the lowest standard university price. Five to eight residents share a large kitchen, two showers and two toilets. The 41-week undergraduate contract remains available through the Christmas and Easter vacations.

Butler Court’s £130.29 room carries a shared bathroom, while its £131.81 category places two people in one bedroom with an attached bathroom. A private large en-suite costs £209.80 per week, showing how room occupancy changes the fee inside the same hall.

Telford costs £135.63 per week and uses either a 39- or 41-week contract. Four to six residents share bathroom facilities, and the hall lies two minutes from Pilkington Library.

David Collett charges £167.89 for its standard catered room and £225.62 for an en-suite. Both rates include ten meals each week.

The Holt begins at £170.13 and includes en-suite and studio categories. Its single studio costs £208.01 per week under the 41-week agreement.

A 50- or 51-week contract has value when you remain in Loughborough for a postgraduate dissertation, summer employment or placement preparation. An undergraduate who leaves after June may pay for a room that receives little use.

A campus or Golden Triangle address can reduce transport spending to almost nothing. Station-side and outer-village homes need a regular bus or taxi allowance.

Shared houses often advertise rent without utilities. Loughborough University notes that private houses generally cost less than purpose-built halls but may exclude energy, water and internet. Private residences usually include those bills and commonly use 51-week contracts.

International Student visa applicants studying at the main Loughborough campus currently need to demonstrate £1,171 for each month of the course, up to nine months, unless an exemption applies. London-campus applicants use the London figure of £1,529 per month. These amounts support the visa application and do not represent average personal spending.

Shared Twin Room

A shared twin places two residents inside one bedroom. Both receive a bed, desk and storage, then share the bathroom arrangement stated by the hall.

Butler Court’s twin category costs £131.81 per person each week. The attached en-suite belongs to both occupants.

This format lowers the rent but requires agreement over sleep, calls, visitors, alarms and study habits. Confirm that the room has enough storage for two full academic years’ worth of belongings.

Private Room with a Shared Bathroom

A private room keeps the bedroom for one person. Flatmates share showers, toilets and the kitchen.

Falkner Eggington and Telford use this arrangement at the lower end of the university price table. Traditional student houses commonly follow the same model.

Shared student accommodation near loughborough university can refer to this room type or to an entire group tenancy. Check which part of the home remains private before comparing two prices.

En-suite Room

An en-suite room includes a private shower, toilet and basin. The kitchen stays communal.

Hazlerigg-Rutland, John Phillips, Robert Bakewell and Elvyn Richards use en-suite rooms throughout their main stock. Private buildings such as Kingfisher Halls, Forest Court and The Cube also include en-suite categories.

Kitchen capacity matters. Six residents need less refrigerator and cupboard space than a ten-person cluster.

Private Room in a Shared Flat

This arrangement gives each resident a lockable bedroom. The household shares the kitchen and, depending on the category, the bathroom.

The wording private shared student accommodation close for loughborough university usually describes this setup on property pages: a private bedroom inside a communal flat. The phrase does not mean the entire apartment belongs to one person.

Review the number of residents, the bathroom arrangement and the kitchen floor plan before booking.

Studio

A studio has a private bathroom and kitchenette within one self-contained unit.

The Holt charges £208.01 per week for its studio. Private developments also carry studio categories, although the live rate normally exceeds the advertised en-suite price.

A studio helps with quiet study and irregular hours. It can also reduce day-to-day contact with other residents, particularly in a building without a busy common room.

Shared House

A shared house normally gives each tenant a bedroom and keeps bathrooms, the kitchen and lounge communal.

The Golden Triangle contains much of the private shared student accommodation close to loughborough university. Groups often gain more communal space than they would receive in a private hall, though they take greater responsibility for cleaning and maintenance.

A joint tenancy can make every housemate liable for the household rent. Ask the university to review the contract before anyone signs.

Entire Flat or House

An established group can rent a complete property through one agreement.

Agree on the rent division before signing. A large bedroom, en-suite or private parking space may justify a different contribution from the smallest room.

The university’s Studentpad platform only includes inspected or accredited properties. Its advisers also help with guarantors and tenancy questions.

For practical comparison, the phrase private student accommodation loughborough university covers purpose-built residences around New Ashby Road, Forest Road and the town centre.

These are displayed entry prices, not guaranteed quotations. Availability and room categories change during the booking period.

The Cube

The Cube occupies New Ashby Road opposite a university entrance. It includes en-suite rooms and studios under 44- and 51-week contracts.

The entry rate currently displays as £130 per week. A 51-week tenancy at that figure costs £6,630. Bills, Wi-Fi and a free town bus pass appear among the listed inclusions.

The lower categories can sell out while the property headline remains online. Open the individual room table and check the booking button before treating £130 as available.

Radmoor House

Radmoor House currently begins at £154 per week under a 50-week agreement.

The Forest Road location places East Park, the Design School and the Radmoor Centre nearby. The centre of town also remains within walking distance.

A 50-week entry contract reaches £7,700. Compare that total with The Holt and William Morris, not only with other private buildings.

The Student Block

The Student Block occupies the centre of Loughborough and begins at £161 per week.

Its contracts currently include 43, 44 and 50 weeks. Private rooms and studios form part of the room list, with utility bills included.

The property works best for someone who values shops, the market and the town’s evening venues. West Park classes require a longer walk than the headline campus distance may suggest.

Forest Court

Forest Court begins at £173 per week and lists private rooms and studios under 46- and 50-week agreements.

Its Forest Road address keeps campus and town accessible without a bus. Utility bills form part of the advertised rent.

The longer contract raises the full cost. At £173 over 50 weeks, rent reaches £8,650.

Kingfisher Halls

Kingfisher Halls begins at £177 per week. The property has en-suite rooms, studios and one-bedroom flats across several buildings.

Utility bills and Wi-Fi form part of the rent, while the current tenancy display uses 50 weeks. The residence also lists a gym, common spaces, secure access and on-site support.

The location favours West Park and the campus entrance near the Art School. Confirm the exact hall because bedroom positions differ within the development.

Forest Rise

Forest Rise currently begins at £182 per week and uses 50-week contracts.

The residence lies near Forest Road, with private bedrooms and studios among the listed formats. Bills and security features appear in the current property information.

At the entry price, a 50-week agreement reaches £9,100. The short campus route needs to save enough time to justify that total.

Study Inn Loughborough

Study Inn occupies Lemyngton Street in the town centre and currently begins at £199 per week.

The listed contracts cover 45 or 51 weeks, and the accommodation has private rooms with bills included.

This option belongs in a higher-budget shortlist. The centre gives strong access to shops and the station bus, but it does not remove the university commute.

University halls currently produce the lowest reliable full-year costs.

The lowest room does not always match the resident’s needs. Falkner Eggington creates a private bedroom but communal bathrooms. Butler Court’s low twin rate requires two people to share the bedroom.

Current private student accommodation near loughborough university can compete with university halls at the weekly level. The longer private contract often removes much of that saving.

Private houses may reduce the room rent further, particularly for larger groups. Add energy, water, internet, contents insurance and transport before comparing the final weekly amount.

Loughborough University London Accommodation

Loughborough University London occupies Here East at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The campus concentrates on postgraduate programmes in areas such as digital technologies, international management, entrepreneurship, diplomacy, creative futures and sport business.

The most practical neighbourhoods include:

Area

Typical route to Here East

Hackney Wick

Walk or local bus

Stratford and East Village

Free shuttle, bus, cycle or walk

Bow

Bus or cycle

Leyton

Bus, cycle or rail connection

Bethnal Green

Overground or bus connection

Walthamstow

Bus or Overground connection

The official London accommodation service does not recommend one named residence. It supplies private-housing information, contract checks and guarantor support.

The Here East shuttle connects the campus with Stratford International and Stratford City stations. Hackney Wick often creates the shortest walking route, while Stratford gives access to the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, the DLR and National Rail.

London rents require a different budget from Loughborough town. The Student visa maintenance figure also changes from £1,171 per month outside London to £1,529 in London.

Walking

The main campus, Golden Triangle and town centre form a compact triangle.

Forest Road, Ashby Road and Storer Road properties often keep teaching buildings within 10 to 25 minutes on foot. The actual time depends on the department’s campus location.

A walk to the university gate does not complete the journey. Add another 5 to 20 minutes for buildings deeper inside the campus.

Free Campus Shuttle

Loughborough operates free electric buses around the university from Monday to Friday.

Stops include the Students’ Union, Pilkington Library, Wolfson School and Holywell Park. No student identification is required for travel within campus.

This service matters on a 523-acre site, particularly when a timetable places two classes at opposite ends.

Sprint Bus

The Kinchbus Sprint connects the university with Loughborough town centre and the railway station.

During term, buses depart around every ten minutes from Monday to Saturday. The university estimates approximately 18 minutes to the town centre and 20 minutes to the station.

Check the current fare before buying a longer pass. Someone based in the Golden Triangle may walk often enough to spend less through occasional tickets.

Cycling

Loughborough’s relatively level terrain makes cycling practical from most student districts.

Campus has bicycle parking, while several halls and private residences include secure storage. Use a strong lock and confirm that storage remains accessible throughout the tenancy.

Rail Travel

Loughborough station lies on the Midland Main Line.

Direct trains connect with Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and London St Pancras. Leicester generally takes around ten minutes, while Nottingham takes about 20 minutes under the normal timetable.

Leave extra time for the Sprint connection when travelling with luggage. The railway station does not stand beside the main campus.

Airport Travel

East Midlands Airport is the closest major airport. Skylink bus services connect the airport with Loughborough.

Birmingham Airport and airports around London provide additional international routes, though they need longer rail journeys.

Check early-morning services before booking a flight. A low airfare can lose its value when public transport has not started, and a taxi becomes necessary.
