Established in London in 2003 by Femi Oguns, IDSA was founded with the specific intention of addressing the lack of representation and opportunities for Black and Minority Ethnic actors within the industry. While welcoming students of all ethnicities, its core mission remains to nurture a new, diverse generation of talent that reflects the real world on stage and screen. IDSA's curriculum is designed to provide state-of-the-art training from experienced acting coaches and practitioners who are active in the industry. The focus is on developing actors to their fullest potential across various disciplines relevant to theatre, film, and television.

Comprehensive Curriculum: The curriculum offers extensive training across text analysis, screen acting techniques (including self-taping and mock castings), improvisation, voice development (for stage, screen, audiobooks, and radio drama), movement, and classical text (Shakespeare).

Proximity: Extremely convenient, as IDSA is located here. Offers the shortest commute.

Student Life: Brixton has a vibrant and multicultural atmosphere with a strong sense of community. It offers numerous affordable eateries, local markets, and a lively social scene, though it might be less traditionally "student-focused" compared to areas near larger universities.

Transport: Excellent transport links via Brixton Underground station (Victoria Line), Overground, and numerous bus routes, providing easy access to other parts of London.

Affordability: Can be moderately expensive, but shared housing options are available and can be more budget-friendly.

Clapham:

Proximity: Located just north of Brixton, offering a short commute via bus or Underground (Northern Line from Clapham North/Common).

Student Life: A popular area with students and young professionals, offering a lively atmosphere around Clapham High Street and Clapham Common. It has numerous pubs, bars, restaurants, and green spaces.  

Transport: Excellent transport links with multiple Underground stations (Clapham North, Clapham Common, Clapham South on the Northern Line), Overground, and bus routes.
