Central Saint Martins Accommodation

The Saint Martin’s School of Art and the Central School of Art and Design merged in 1989 to create Central Saint Martins. Both schools had already taught generations of artists and designers before the merger, with histories dating back to 1854 and 1896.

Camden and Kentish Town

Camden keeps CSM within a short bus, cycle or Northern line trip. The neighbourhood has markets, music venues, late-opening food shops and a strong creative character, but streets near Camden High Street can remain noisy well after midnight.

AXO Camden appears around 1.04 miles from CSM and currently lists studios from £423 per week. Camden Hawley Crescent begins at £319 for a studio or shared category, while The Stay Club Camden begins near £404.

Kentish Town can give a quieter address while retaining direct Northern line access. A room near Kentish Town station can reach King’s Cross St Pancras quickly without the price attached to a Camden Market postcode.

Bloomsbury and Euston

Highline Building, another UAL hall in the area, charges from £304 per week for a 50-week en-suite contract. The property lies five minutes from the Underground and National Rail stations.

UAL’s latest published estimate places average annual London costs at £19,750 for 2025/26. The actual figure changes with rent, travel, course materials and the length of time spent in London.

Creative courses can also create uneven expenses. One week may require little beyond groceries and transport; the next may bring fabric, printing, model-making materials, specialist paper or exhibition costs. Keep a separate course fund instead of treating materials as an occasional surprise.

King’s Cross St Pancras

From the Regent’s Canal exit, the route follows King’s Boulevard towards Granary Square. The walk usually takes around ten minutes.

Buses

Routes 10, 17, 30, 45, 59, 63, 73, 91, 205, 214, 259, 390 and 476 serve the King’s Cross area. The 17 and 390 also connect King’s Cross with Archway.

A bus can work better than the Tube for Islington, Camden and Holloway addresses because it removes station walks and line changes. Check late-evening frequency alongside the morning timetable.

Travel to Archway

Archway Underground station uses the Northern line. Buses 4, 17, 143, 263, 390, C11 and N41 serve the surrounding area.

Your timetable may use King’s Cross, Archway Main or Archway Annexe codes. Confirm the code before travelling to a session.

Student Oyster Discounts

Eligible full-time learners can apply for an 18+ Student Oyster photocard. It gives 30% off adult-rate Travelcards and Bus & Tram Pass season tickets, but it does not reduce normal pay-as-you-go fares by 30%.

A 16–25 Railcard linked to Oyster can reduce selected off-peak pay-as-you-go rail fares. Full-time learners over 25 can also qualify for the railcard under the student rules.

Walking and Cycling
