It's been 6 months into my stay with Kendrick Halls and honestly I love the location of the accommodation. It is situated at such a good walking distance for all my necessities such as town centre. I love the view my room has to offer as well as the other perks that the accommodation gives– the courtyard where my favourite feature is the well maintained fish pond, the cosy reception which is always stocked with hot water and cups to help yourself to a tea or coffee. I also wanted to comment on the hospitality showcased by the Kendrick Hall team, which on the whole has been a positive experience to some extent. I want to commend Maria in particular since she's been nothing but helpful since day one and it's been a joy to be getting to know her. She always goes out of her way to help me, whether that be helping me move heavy groceries or asking me about my day with a smile and demeanour that can brighten any dull day!. Her hard work does not go unnoticed and is very much appreciated! The only hiccup I had with staff was when it came to paying my early instalments of rent. I experienced a stern knock, with two members of staff at my door (which I thought was unnecessary) Asking to meet me in the kitchen to discuss rent. I was questioned as to why I hadn't paid. I pay in instalments and I was under the impression that rent had to be paid on the 14th of every month but I misunderstood and rent is always due on the 1st of the month. I voiced this misunderstanding and in response– I felt like I got a very scripted response. I was told that they'd have to escalate the situation if rent wasn't paid in the next few days. I can vividly recall the day that this all went down and this situation definitely heightened my anxiety on this day that wasn't already going well to say the least. After the interaction (I was shaken up the whole situation made me feel unnecessarily anxious and made it out to be that I had done something wrong.) I immediately tried to resolve the rent payment but was faced with issues with the portal you have to pay via. I tried several times but encountered the same technical issue. I went to reception with screenshots and was told a bank transfer was the most viable option and that the details for the bank transfer would be emailed to me. I didn't receive that email, but made sense of it all and set up a direct debit. Moral of the story for any future residents- just remember to pay your rent on time or else you'll have a not so friendly Kendrick Hall staff at your door!

Staying at Kendrick this year has been amazing! The grounds are really nice, and the facilities are great. I love being so close to the town centre while still only a 20-minute walk from campus. The staff are always friendly and happy to help, special thanks to Jem for helping me get back into my room when I forgot my key!

In my opinion, Kendrick is the best accommodation in Reading and also I love here. I’m international student and there are a lot of things I have to ask for help. The Security team Dav, Howard, Mo are always so kind and helping me a lot. It is 24/7 so you can ask for help anytime. Not only doing basic jobs, they are really kind and always communicate with me so I really feel Kendrick is warm. They are security but they seem like friends. I have been to another accommodations in reading but most of them don’t have great reception and this is the best place to socialize students from diverse background. I’ll date in reading for two years so I’ll rebook Kendrick for next year!

I’ve been living here since September, nothing but all good support with the staff. I had a few issues but the reception and maintenance were always available to support and do their best to fix any of my concerns. Living at Kendricks have given me a such home-like experience since moving out. With monthly free breakfast, and joyful mornings. Festive holidays and get together really bring the community together with students and staff. The location is very convenient due to it being a 10-13mins walk away from town, and reinforces to get to know the area and a decent walk to the university of Reading. At night time, we have a security shift, Howard, ready to deal with night issues or even a good chat. Leading to the day team, Sheila, Becky, Lily, Jake, Maria do their very best job to take care of us all.

Kendrick Hall is a really great place to live as a student. The accommodation is has a really nice friendly atmosphere. One of the best things they do is the free breakfast twice a month, which is always delicious and really great quality such a nice bonus for students. The staff are lovely, always welcoming, friendly, and happy to help with anything. Overall, I’ve had a very positive experience living here and would definitely recommend Kendrick Hall to other students.
