About this property
Nobody wants to spend half their morning travelling to an 8 a.m. lecture or keep track of separate utility bills every month. For many students, the little things outside the classroom can become just as demanding as coursework, and that's indeed a reason 79 Silver Street stands out. Located just a 6-minute walk from the University of Reading's London Road Campus, it puts students close to campus while giving them a private place to switch off at the end of the day.
Address: 79 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2SU, United Kingdom
79 Silver Street sits in central Reading, close to many of the places students visit throughout the week. A supermarket run, a coffee before class, or a quick stop at the shopping centre rarely requires a long detour. Local bus stops are nearby, making it easier to get across town for lectures, errands, or plans with friends.
Students considering 79 Silver Street, Reading, will find shops, cafés, restaurants, public transport, and everyday essentials close by. As a conveniently located student accommodation in Reading, it provides easy access to everything students need for daily life. During a busy semester, having those places nearby can make a noticeable difference to how much time is spent travelling from one place to another.
Many students choose 79 Silver Street because it places them close to both university campuses and everyday essentials in central Reading. The University of Reading's London Road Campus is only a 6-minute walk away, making daily commutes much easier.
If you're studying at the University of Reading's London Road Campus, you're only 0.3 miles away. The Oracle shopping centre is around an 11-minute walk from the property, so picking up groceries, meeting friends, or running errands doesn't need much planning. Apart from these, Whiteknights Campus is also accessible on foot, by bicycle, or by bus.
Not everyone enjoys sharing a kitchen or waiting for a bathroom to become available. Each studio comes with a private kitchen and bathroom, giving you a space that's entirely your own.
Rent already includes gas, electricity, water, contents insurance, and high-speed Wi-Fi of up to 200Mbps. There are no separate utility accounts to set up or monthly bills arriving at different times.
After spending hours in lectures or working on assignments, sometimes a different setting helps. You can head to the gym, find a quiet study space, grab a coffee, or spend an evening in the cinema, gaming, or karaoke room.
University friendships don't always start in the classroom. Movie nights, breakfast clubs, yoga sessions, and local outings bring residents together throughout the year.
Laundry facilities, secure bike storage, and on-site staff are all part of daily life at 79 Silver Street. Small things like these often become more important once the semester gets busy.
One of the first decisions you'll make is choosing the type of room that matches both your budget and how you prefer to live. At 79 Silver Street, all rooms are self-contained, but the layouts and sizes vary depending on how much space you're looking for.

Deluxe Studio: Suitable for students who spend a lot of time in their room and would appreciate a larger layout.
Super Deluxe Studio: One of the larger studio options in the building, giving students additional room for studying and relaxing after a long day at the university library.
Premium Double Apartment: Offers a larger apartment layout and may appeal to students looking for extra space.
Deluxe Accessible Studio: Designed to support accessible student living requirements while maintaining the same level of privacy and independence as the other room types.
Student accommodation costs can quickly add up once utility bills and extra expenses start coming in. At 79 Silver Street, several essential services are already included in your weekly rent, so there are fewer separate payments to keep track of during the academic year.

I am leaving this review with a great deal of frustration regarding a promised £500 cashback incentive. I stayed at this property from September 2025 to December 2025. Before signing my contract, I took the necessary precautions to confirm my eligibility for the cashback code with both the sales team and the on-site reception. Both parties explicitly assured me that the code was valid for my stay. However, after following up multiple times throughout my residency, I was finally told in February 2026 that I am ineligible because my stay did not meet the minimum week requirement. While I understand that terms and conditions apply, I do not understand why I was repeatedly given false confirmation by staff members. I was essentially misled into a contract under the impression I would receive £500 back. It is disappointing to be given the run-around for months only to be denied what was promised. Prospected residents should be wary of any incentives promised by the team here.

Dimitris is honestly the best! He’s always super friendly, warm and ready to help. He even helped me move my heavy luggage when I first arrived, which made me feel so welcome. Living here feels much easier and more like home because of him. Thank you, Dimitris, for being so kind and supportive every day! Many thanks from Shirley!

I have lived here for a year and the room is full of space. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed talking to James and Angela. Living here was very comfortable. When I needed to do some cleaning, I could always go to reception to borrow some tools, which also saved some of my expenses.
